I had a kidney transplant and that is what caused the problem with the Parathyroid.  It is common with kidney disease.  I got my transplant in Sept.2000. My calcium was always over 10.  One doctor suggested to my Nephrologist, that I had a Parathyroid problem. She never got a response so 6 years later, she ordered a scan on the Parathyroid. All 4 lobes were removed.  I felt fine and you cannot see a scar at all.
