Couldn't find what you looking for?

TRY OUR SEARCH!

My neighbors from 2 doors down do a little running (mostly treadmill stuff). I've spoken to them before about racing and the wife said she has done a 5K in the past but that's it. I only met him this weekend, but he didn't mention that he'd done any prior racing.

So, I've got copies of a couple of local 5K entry forms sitting on my desk. Am I being obnoxious if I take them down to their house this evening and try to talk them into running one or two of them?

I would drop them off and say I thought you might be interested. See how they respond. You should push them; but, let them know you would be willing to answer any questions.

No I don't think so. Maybe you can run it with them to show some support and perhaps that will stir their interest more.

Sounds like a recruiting opportunity though. The bonus money is pretty good I hear.

I struggle with this too. 'Cuz then if they do show up and find out you're a competitive junkie, I end up feeling like they've thought I asked them to come so there's a couple more people to beat. It's a catch-22 Hayes. Maybe just dropping it in their mailbox or under the car's wiper blade.

The only way it would be obnoxious is if you wore your tinfoil 3-piece suit and showed up a three in the morning and asked them via bullhorn. Otherwise, I think it's a neat idea and it's these little acts that help hold the community together.

I have given race applications to some of the parent's of my childrens's school friends. I know they run, so I also hope that I am not be a pain. I usually put a note on the application and had it to them when I see them. I don't usually ask about it afterward, so I hope that I am not being too pushy either.

obnoxious is the last thing that came to my mind. Just showing interest in the neighbor is cool.

Heck get a plug in for RF also

I think that's a good idea. If they are new to the area they may be looking for things to do and races are a good way to see the town (if they are local).

It's for a charity, right? If they go, it's a win win situation! More money for the charity and a chance to get to know your neighbors. I think it's a really nice gesture.
