Hi- I found it oddly ironic reading your post that I too came off BC right around your time. Infact, it was Thanksgiving. I am experiencing the same symptoms as you (and everyone else) And yes the anxiety is hands down the worst part of all of this. I never had anxiety or depression until this Pill. I definitely have noticed improvements from the first week being off. But everything I am reading says it will take up to 6 months to balance out. Is it May 2018 yet?
After reading other suggestions I am on board. I have been taking Stress B-12 (with iron) for about a month and it has absolutely helped. I also have been eating much cleaner. If we can all stick this out for a few months I think we will all be in a better place. I just ordered maca powder to put in daily smoothies. And whenever I am feeling awful I just go on and read some of these threads as a reminder this will get better. I live in Chicago and I am sure it doesn't help that it is cold and crappy out everyday to bring down my mood.
To everyone else struggling, I highly suggest you read through this thread when you're feeling off. If we could only sue these damn companies for putting these pills on the market. We will get thru this...and prove to everyone we can beat it.

Hi my name is Martha whats yours? We are off the pills around the same length of time now .. 7 weeks! It's a struggle of up and downs. Yes i have read the most common time frame to see noticeable improvements are around 3-6 mos and for you to get your 100% back can take much longer.
There are things we can do to make it less hard. Taking supplements and detoxing, acupuncture and seeing a naturopathic doctor seems to work for a lot of women like us.
I am the same way as you, sometimes when i feel bad waking up in the morning I go these threads for comfort especially when i feel hopeless.
What is the worst side effect for you?

My name is Brittany...Definitely the anxiety. I am scared of everything these days which half the things I am scared of are incredibly ridiculous. I never used to be like that. I told all of my friends and family about it though so it helped to get it out in the open. Having support is the biggest thing. My friend just told me about a book to help me through this rough patch...slightly related, slightly not. It is called Way of the Peaceful Warrior...written by Dan Millman. I like it so far! Give it a shot- it has been a positive distraction about taking life easy and everything has a purpose. Just this week I have felt I have been a little better. Between all the supplements and eating right I think it is making a difference. Hopefully it is for you too. I also am thinking about going on an low-dose anti-anxiety med atleast until my hormones balance out. I don't like the idea of living through this c**p. And I for sure don't like the idea of using meds but my family friend is a doctor and made me realize there are so many types of people on different meds bc their body can't do it themselves (high blood pressure, cholesterol etc). so if this is just a little something to help me get by for the next couple months, I may do it.
It helps to find someone also going thru this the same time. Keep in touch- can help us both!

Hi Brittany it's so nice to meet you in this thread :) I agree that we can help each other to get through this rough time!
Distraction is the best way to get our minds off of what we feel. Im trying to do that now - though having a tough time because before I figured out all these things happening is because going off these d*mn pills - i convinced myself i might be dying of an unknown illness eventhough all my bloodworks and checkups with multiple doctors are ok. I'll check that book! :)
For me the physical symptoms get the best of me a lot of these days.. the weakness, heavy fuzzy head, nausea ugh i hate it.
Go for whatever you think can help you go through this cr*ap. I started to take Inderal 10mg for anxiety a month ago but i felt like it made me worse so i stopped taking. Right now im just drinking vitamin c, b1 b6 b12 and iron with folic acid.. seems to help a little. Also noticed i feel 10% better when i do yoga in the morning. I have an appoinment with my GYN today im not sure if she can help but im looking forward to see a naturopathic doctor on Jan 9 to get more supplements.
What supplements are you taking? :)

I agree with the nausea and fuzzy head part. Rarely do I feel like I can think straight. Which again is crazy because I used to be a pro at multitasking. Anyways I have been starting my days with a multivitamin and stress b complex vitamin. On occasion I’ll take L-theanine. But have found myself getting away from that. I also drink chamomile tea a lot. In the afternoon I’ll do a protein smoothie with maca powder. I just started taking HTP-5 the past couple of days. I think it might be helping but also too early to tell.
I have an appt. to see an endocrinologist on Jan. 10. Did your gyn say anything when you went? And please keep me posted on what the naturopathic doc says. What area are you in?

Hi britanny I'm from Manila, Philippines ;)
Like you I also have an active life before all these.. i took a leave from work and told my boss I don't know when I will be ready to come back. I developed so many anxiety issues at the onset of this endeavor especially those weeks I didnt link it to birrh control pills yet. I'm scared of being in q crowded spot, i also developed Health Anxiety and basically I just overthink and make myself feel sick and bad.
My OB did some tests - the usual urine test, pap smear, ultrasound. I seem to be doing ok except I have UTI. Then she conducted EKG because I have palpitations ( anxiety related i assume) and i have to get a 2Decho test done. She did thryoid test bit came back negative.. i told her about the pills and she was supportive telling me it might be that the pills disrupting my whole system and just wait until i get back to my normal. She said i will be ok.. that gives me somehow an relief.
I lost 6 lbs already and im a tiny woman. I'm only 101lbs now and i feel bad about that :( There are days I cant eat no matter what food is in front of me. And also now I choose the food that i eat because i dont want to take in any food that will cause more hormonal craziness to my body.
Will definitely keep you posted after my appointment with the Naturopathic Doctor.
Last night I did a steam bath and 30min massage. Im not sure it helped because right after the steam bath i felt weak and dizzy like im gonna faint! Not good for my health anxiety :( i heard tho that sweating gets rid of the toxic synthetic hormones in our fat c3lls the pills brought us...

Hi Martha-
I guess it goes to show us females are having these issues all over the world. Crazy how there is not more information out there to maintain our bodies when coming off the pill.
It is definitely comforting to hear that you will be okay (from a doctor). When I talked to my gyn about it, she basically implied it was all in my head. Not exactly what I wanted to hear...but It’s interesting the more people I talk to about hormones and issues they have had with them being unbalanced the more I see it is much more common than we think. Time is everything. Have you gotten a period yet?
Whenever I have anxiety I just think “let it go” as quickly as I can. Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes tougher. When all of this initially started...the very first day, I went off the pill, I was rushed to the hospital because I thought I was losing my mind. Couldn’t eat, everything scared me, just a crazy mix of emotions...looking back to then and now, I know I am better. I hope you can recognize this too. My close friend is a psychologist and she suggested writing down how you’re feeling each day to tangibly see yourself improving. Although I do more reflecting than anything, it may be something to help you.
Just remember we are all going thru this. Talk about it, don’t keep it in. It’s helped me wonders.

Britanny,
Yes it's really a surprise that there's not a lot of information about the things happening to us.. even when i search online it's crazy!!! Where are you from?
I have a friend who went through the same thing back in 2014 and she said it took her a year to recover fully.
Yes I did get 2 periods already after i stopped. The first one is 5 days after i stopped and the next one is around December 26, 2017 that only lasted 2 and a half days. Days leading to my period i was in a complete mess - i didnt know at that time it was the pills making me feel all these things. My next period is due Jan 25 and yesterday is the start of my ovulation week.. no wonder i feel like such a mess since yesterday. Nauseous, lightheaded, dizzy and just tired.. i woke up with racing heartbeat for no reason at all.
I do have a journal atm writing down my thoughts definitely helped.. you're right though that sometines its easy to let the anxiety go and there are moments it gets the best of you too.
This forum really gives me comfort because i know us girls get what each other is feeling - the hardest days of life...

Hi Britanny! I loved Chicago when i went there way back :)
Yesterday I saw my Naturopathic Doctor and it was a relief. I even cried during our session because I was just so overwhelmed with everything when i started to talk about what happened to me the past 7 weeks. It reminded me somehow of the horrible things I felt. She was awesome! She explained to me how the pill couldve been the culprit of all the things I have been experiencing. She also said my unhealthy lifestyle before even quitting the pill contributed to the gravity of my condition. We have a treatment plan and i will see her again in 2 weeks. She prescribed L-theanine for my anxiety, Ashwaganda to help me sleep better & Probiotics.. she gave me an ideal meal plan to help me have more energy.
This morning i took my first L theanine capsule and i feel ok. Definitely more calm than the past few days.. she said this is not gonna be a fast journey to recovery but if we continue going the right track.. everyday will be better.. everything is still so scary to me at this point. It's like i got used to living in fear of what i would feel each day. But i have to keep pushing forward.. we have to.

Martha- I am so happy to hear you’re feeling better!! I think the supplements help so hopefully it keeps doing the trick for you!
I went to the endocrinologist and he wants to check my adrenal glands. So sometime in the next week I have to get blood work done to check on cortisol levels. He thinks that could be the reason for anxiety. But he did say anytime your period isn’t consistent, your going to have symptoms. Especially if you didn’t have that prior to taking the pill. What a relief to hear...I’ll keep you posted. Let’s keep going strong sister!

Britanny let me know how the blood work for your adrenal test goes. We'll do anything to resolve all the health concerns since stopping bcp brought us and hopefully our recovery will be less of a struggle.
I was also adviced by my naturopathic doctor to get serum ferritin test and adrenal stress saliva test . So i will be doing those next week. It's a little bit tricky doing all these here in the Philippines but I just thank God i found a US Based Doctor that travels here in Manila because she also has a clinic here.
I'll keep you posted as well sister! :)

I stopped my pill 2015 and it was hell. sh*t, I think hell would have been a nicer place. My fault I didn't really change my no exercise or diet until recently (2.5 years) just bcause I CAN'T stay like this. I just assumed I WOULD stay like that, but Idk I have been on a vegan diet for last two weeks, taking supplements, holistic medicine and joining a gym tomorrow.. I feel like only I CAN CHANGE IT. I'm doing a drastic change and I will let everyne know. Anything that has helped you please do share
Blood test (3) NORMAL
Urine blood test finally show estrogen dominance (low ratio of progestorone to estrogone) estrogen was too high and my progestorone was low for the amount of estrogen. I clearly don't believe in blood test as much because I CHECKED 3 times with blood test when I first got off pill desperate for answers and all they would do is say normal hormones and throw antidepressants my way.

You stopped the pill 2015 and been experiencing all the symptoms for 2 years?
That must have been so hard.. when did you finally link it to stopping the pill?
Acupuncture and seeing a Naturopathic doctor helps.
