I was diagnosed with this 2 months ago after presenting with bleeding after sex and heavier periods. A polyp was causing this but on investigation they found the APA in uterus. I am 44 and live in Saskatoon.  I was very shocked as both me and my gynacologist were sure it was just a fibriod.   She totally freaked out about the results when she got them. Telling me if I didn't have a hysterectomy immediately I could die, that I might have cancer right now. It was totally unnecessary to report it to me like that and caused me a massive amount of stress until I read up on it and talked to many oncologists.  This seemed to be more about her fear of cancer than mine.  I have no fibroids, no polyps, no symptoms and APA was benign. I had more tests done and I am fine. It seems mad to me to take out my lovely uterus when it's had the all clear and working normally.

APA is known to be low in risk of cancer so I decided what's best for me is to watch and wait. I will have biopsies or scans every 9 months for the next 3 years then yearly if all ok. I want to go through the menopause naturally if possible.    I am also having treatment for this with a Chinese Medicine Doctor - acupuncture and herbs. The herbs break down the lining keeping it healthy and help minimise the risk of my body being able to build such a structure again.  In alternative health, tumors like this, in this area are to do with unexpressed creativity. The creative energy is un-used and turns negative. I am very creative and haven't expressed it for years. Time to get the paint brush out!
