I would like to know - are there other huntington’s risk factors besides genetics? My sister’s friend has been diagnosed with this illness (32 years old), but, apparently, no one in her family had this condition. So, how did she get it? Maybe some other, underlying condition that caused Huntington? What do you think?

Actually, there are no other risk factors except for hereditary one. The fact that no one in her family did not have huntington’s disease, that does not mean that they are not carriers of the responsible gene located on chromosome 4. In fact, one parent who has it is enough for a 50 – 50 percent chance for outbreak of Huntington in their child.
