I am 30 and have had pneumonia anywhere from 55-60 times since I was 2yrs old. I was tested back in 2005 for cystic fibrosis and it came up negative. The military at that point sent out my blood to DNA specialists who discovered a mutated gene CFTR. I have severe nasal polyps that don't ever go away even after surgery. I don't go 3 months without a severe sinus infection, bronchitis or pneumonia. It seemed to be under control for a couple years but now that I am 30 it seems to be picking up again. The past 3 months I have been fighting to get rid of infection until I was hospitalized a couple days ago. I can't go very long periods without steriods and I cannot take an antibiotic without steriods. I have had major damage done to my immune system and my body stopped producing adrenaline due to the over use of the steriods. I have 3 children and none of them have any medical problems thus far and hopefully they will never have to experience a life like mine. None of the doctors I have seen have any answers as to the real cause. They just treat the symptoms as they arise but I find to find out and treat the cause. If anyone has any information and can help enlighten the situation it would be wonderful. I'm at the point where doctors are my worst enemy because they don't have the answers and look at me as if I'm crazy. Yes I have been diagnosed by xrays for all the pneumonia I have experienced, after my 3rd sinus surgery I was done because it was more painful than the full gastric bypass I had. I have grown up in a hospital but would like to live to see my children graduate from college, but at this rate I won't be able to even see them graduate highschool. Any help would be in fact, help and is much appreciated. What do I do next?
