It is caused by bacteria of the genus Shigella. It is spread by contact with a patients or carriers or though food or water contaminated by their feces. It usually occurs in summer and fall. According to the clinical features and courses it can be divided into acute and chronic types. Every condition that is left untreated is dangerous on its own way, including this one. Bacillary dysentery is successfully treated by TCM’s treatment approach, specially in chronic cases and it may take about one or two months as a treatment cycle.
