Hi, folks. I have been suffering from gout for months. I can’t stand taking medications any more, but you know I cannot stop. Lately, I have heard something about using baking soda for treating this disease. I was wondering if this is true. Does anyone have any info? I will really appreciate it.

Hi, there. You are right. I also heard that baking soda can reduce the number of gout attacks. It sometimes decreases its number to zero. I am not sure about its mechanism. However, there are side effects. High blood pressure is one of them. Its main component is sodium which is responsible in rising blood pressure. Other side effects are also described. Those would be mood changes, slower breathing, loss of appetite, etc. Consult your doctor before you go for this option.
