Well sadly I have had the Mirena in for 6 years and only relized about two years ago that it is linked to all the problems I have been suffering over the years, Massive weight gain that won't go away no matter what I do...And worse my hair has gotten so thin I am scared it won't ever be the same and my body aches terribly, and I turned 40 in July and I feel like I turned 80 I told my doctors both my obgyn and my primary care dr of these issues at least 2 years ago and they ran tests of my thyroid and other stuff they thought could be causing my issues, NOTHING!! I asked about my mirena, my obgyn said oh no I don't feel it's that at all and didn't feel it needed to be removed, ok so Ibelieved the dr; blew it off, meanwhile my symptoms got worse, so finally now I got my obgyn to listen after I called the office crying and desperate for someone to listen. My hair is falling out for God Sake!!! And I used to have thick hair very thick, and now I have a receding hair line like a man it's horrifying!! And finally I am scheduled to have it removed on oct 17th... NOT SOON ENOUGH!! Now I worry if my body can recover from that poison it has endured for 6 years. I think that the company or someone should be held accountable!!!! beware and don't get one and if you have one REMOVE it fast!!

WOW!!!! I have the MIRENA going on 5yrs now. I don't have hair loss but I have gained a lot, I was 140 pounds when I first had it inserted and now I'm 210! I have changed my eating habits I work out and my weight keeps going up! I crave sweets, I'm moody. I'm getting it out after reading yours, Thank you!
