I would love to see some remedy's posted that may also cure this problem without producing side affects , especially singing or being extremely good at dancing

Just as an update .....i was getting fed up of the taste in my mouth and started to wonder what might get rid of it
as nobody has posted anything other than symptoms

This appears to have worked for me and apart from belching has no side affects (so far) 1/2 a teaspoon of Bicarbonate of soda in a small glass of water , pretty much cured the taste, there is a hint of it left but not much .....give it a go

Thanks Guys for all your posts. I started to have bitter taste in my mouth, it freaks me out. And guess what? Friday night I went to "Whole foods" and bought organic pine nuts and ate 2 hands full. On Saturday I started to have nasty bitter taste in my mouth after food. Thanks God it’s just pine nuts:) I'm just wondering, my parents grow up in Siberia, Russia and they always ate pine nuts in the shell and they never had symptoms. I'm guessing it's some kind if preservatives that keep pine nuts fresh out of shell that makes all these problems.

For the past few days I've experienced the same taste as described by countless posts . I've eaten pine nuts for years with no reaction but I did sample a few skin-on almonds that had been in my closet to see if they were still fresh. They had an odd taste so I threw them out. The next day, the bad taste appeared. I'm hoping it will say "adios" soon as it is extremely unpleasant. Does anyone out there have an antidote??

I, like everyone else have the bitter taste at the back of my throat ! Once again , 2 days after a Caeser salad sprinkled with Pine nuts, started getting the nasty taste.
It's obvious from all the previous posts that this must be the cause, but I'm really disappointed since I love the little things! Oh well, will just have to resign myself to finding a new ingredient, because I really wouldn't want this taste again, it's revolting! Hope it goes soon, it makes wine taste foul and it really does make you miserable.
Think I'll vote for the "ban pine nuts party" in the general election

Same story here... Had the metallic taste, thought it was a brain tumor, then i thought I was allergic to peanuts. Realized I must also be allergic to water. Went on the internet and woooooow thank god for google, right?

I had pine nuts the day before I started experiencing it. Going on day 3 and still feel like I'm chewing on Al foil. 8-|

Phew! What a relief! I was wondering what was wrong with me. Thank God for the Internet, eh?

So yeah, same thing happened for me. I started getting the bitter metallic taste in my mouth after eating yesterday. I did a Google and this was the first reference I came up with. Sure enough, I had a bag of pine nuts in the form of home-made pesto about four days ago.

A bit more Googling reveals it's a common, known problem, and is believed to be caused by certain species of pine nuts mainly from China. Some of us are just sensitive, although the exact mechanism isn't known. There's no sign of anything serious and it clears up in days.

BTW - I'm in Sydney, Australia, and bought mine from Thomas Dux Grocers, so it's an international phenomenon.

I had pine nuts a few days ago and also have the bitter taste. I had this taste in my mouth once before, years ago, and never knew what it was. Strangely, I have eaten pine nuts many times between then and now, and did nt get this reaction. This time, I pulled some older ones out of my pantry, and roasted them in a salad. Perhaps it has something to do with consuming fresh vs. not fresh pine nuts???

I had a chicken salad with fresh pine nuts 3 days ago. By yesterday afternoon I was making a salad and noticed the cucumber seemed to be off, but then so was the lettuce and everything else i ate! Then I came across this forum. Amazing! My boyfriend had some of the pine nuts but is fine. It must be a genetic thing. I'm sure I've had pine nuts on pizza before and I've been fine. Today the taste of ANYTHING is unbearable and I've completely lost my appetite. Really praying it won't last longer than a week.

I'm an American living in the Netherlands...had a salad with pine nuts at a restaurant on Saturday and developed the bitter taste in my mouth Monday morning. Three days later and it still hasn't gone away, though it's getting better. I googled my symptoms and found this thread. I think I'll avoid pine nuts from now on! In the meantime, I've found that chai tea gives me some relief.

Just this morning I began with bitter taste in my mouth after eating. I asked the Science Teacher in our building and said to her, "maybe it's because I'm a "Super Taster". She gave me the test strip and it was worse than the bitter taste I had already had. She said "It's official, you're a Super Taster. I Googled and found out about the pine nuts. I too have eaten them for years. I've had them from N.Mexico and in CA. and here in Oregon, I have gotten them at Fred Meyer and at Winco. The last batch came from Winco and I had a small handful 2 days ago, and today YUK began! At least I know why now.

May 28th 2010 = I bought pine nuts in whole foods, a few days later, after eating a few handfuls as snacks, mindlessly, everything tasted bitter. I feel like its pesticide poisoning. these were bulk pine nuts in a bin with other nuts and oatmeal etc. I have no idea where they are from but I wont be buying in bulk bins anymore. I still have it and am still worried it might be some other kind of poisoning. I have never had this kind of a response from pine nuts. I rarely eat them but when I have I have never had this. NY I noted all the dates april may

I live the Vancouver area of Canada. My friend cooked me a pasta dinner on Friday night and used her homemade pesto and then roasted pine nuts (purchased at Costco). On Sunday morning I woke up and poured my usual glass of orange juice, it was horrible. I though the juice had gone rancid so I opened a brand new container, same problem. It's now Tuesday night and I still have this metallic, bitter taste when I eat or drink. Particularly with carbs or sweeter things. I plan to pick up some candied ginger tomorrow morning as suggested by one poster. Three days of this is quite enough!

I have had pine mouth that has started about a day ago from some pine nuts I got on sale at Kroger (they were from China) I have been searching the internet for a remedy. I have heard aloe juice, charcoal tabs.. I had also heard fresh ginger. I had some fresh ginger on hand but decided instead for some of the pickled sushi ginger (it was much more pleasant to eat) It really seems to be working. After just a few hours the taste is barley noticeable. :D I thought I would be suffering for days/weeks.

I just tried the tbs of ginger in 4 oz of water. It's hard to swallow at the time, but afterwards I got about 5-10 minutes of relief so I could eat a quick meal. Even peach ice cream tasted normal for a little while. Just tried it 3 times with 15 minutes in between. Hoping for the best (that it'll go away permanently very soon).
