My 7 yr old got tonsils out on Tuesday 2/25/14. The 2nd night she was up every 30 minutes of so screaming & sounding like she was gasping for air. We are on Saturday night 3/1/14 and when she recently woke up to do the nightly screaming, I noticed dried blood around her lips and teeth. I don't see anything on her tongue so I don't know if maybe she bit her lip???
After reading other posts about the bleeding that requires trips to the ER (naturally) I'm freaking out and thinking the worse.
Pam I complete sleep deprived and overreacting or could this be something serious?
So far she hasn't been bleeding at all...by my sister in law ddecided to make her grilled cheese after I said she's only been eating "soft" foods. Could this have torn her scabs?
Im so sleep deprived that this may be a cut lip! I can't tell! She's sleeping next to me right now and is snoring, but I keep thinking the worse.
Also...i just noticed by spelling in horrible...please excuse that.
Should I take her in to hospital tomorrow if dried blood is still there? Am I totally overreacting?

Hi i just recently got my tonsils out 6 days ago. So i know exaclty what your daughter is going through. She is going to be in a lot of pain and some bleeding is normal is what i was told but if she starts bleeding again and it last more than a couple of minutes and there is a lot do not hesitate and take her in! Also if she is bleeding just a little giver her ice water it is said it helps the bleeding stop. But im guessing the blood was probably from a piece of her scab in the back of her throat falling off. But yes the grilled cheese could of been the problem it might of scrapped the throat. Just make sure she stays away from scratchy food like this, it will do more harm then good! And dairy is a big thing to stay away from it will help her so she doesnt have mucus. But for the most part everything seems fine so sorry you have to go through that with your little girl my mom can totally relate she has been worried sick about me the past week and is also sleep deprived. Just pray and make sure to keep a eye on her and if she starts bleeding again best of luck to you and your little one!
