Hi, i am a 15 year old male and over the last week i have been experiencing bad diarrhoea and constipation. As you can imagine this has forced me to go to the toilet regularly however on the third day i noticed tiny smears of blood on the tissue when coming to the end of me wiping my anus. My rectum is sore and raw and i think i have just aggrivated it by wiping it so much, but what do you think? Is it something more serious? As you can imagine this is an embarrassing topic to discuss with my parents so i want to see if it is merely sore and bleeding from wiping it too much, or as a result of not having the softest toilet roll? Any feedback would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Yes aggressive wiping of the butt can tear the skin of the anus and lead to smears of bright red blood. Please use a softer and smoother paper, wipe gently, and try to get some Preparation H cream around the wound to see if it heals.

Incorporate more fiber in your diet, drink more fluids to avoid constipation. If all this doesn't help, it may be internal hemorrhoids, which you should get examined.
