Hi! Two years ago I had tonsillectomy and then I read a lot about tonsillitis and surgical treatment. As I know, it’s not normal to have breathing problems after tonsillectomy. It is maybe a consequence of anesthesia. The most common risk of any anesthesia is breathing problems. He should ask his doctor about that.

Hi there,
Tonsillectomy usually helps with problems like breathing. You have to understand that few days is not enough for full recovery after the surgery and your friend will have to wait several more days to and see if he really has problems with breathing or it was just a temporary thing caused by the procedure. Is he having any other problems, for instance with food swallowing? Is he using any medication right now? This is not a simple procedure and the recovery is not simple as well. It usually takes up to four weeks to be fully recovered and your friend has just passed few days. He will have to hang in there for at least one more week.
