Hi! Can somebody explain to me what exactly prolactinoma is? I heard it is some kind of tumor. My friend told me that she has prolactinoma because of too much prolactin in the blood. It was very hard for me to ask her more questions but I wonted to know few more things. Is bromocriptine adequate medication for prolactinoma?

Yes, prolactinoma is a benign tumor of the pituitary gland. As you probably know pituitary gland produces a hormone called prolactin and too much prolactin in the blood may cause prolactinoma. It usually treat with bromocriptine that blocks release of prolactin. Bromocriptine shrinks the tumor and return prolactin levels to normal. It is also used for some other hormonal disorder.
