Brownish discharge before my period

I'm 16 years old and I am not sexually active, but something weird is happening with my menstrual cycle. For a while (a few periods now), I've been experiencing a brown discharge before my period, or after, or both. I search the enternet and didn't see anything that made me worried because there isn't any pain, which is said to be what you need to look out for, but I was supposed to get my period about a week and a half ago, and about four days ago the brown discharge started up again, but no period, and sometimes there is a little bit of blood when I wipe, but that's all. Could anyone help me out and give me some information. Honestly, I'm 16 years old and I don't want to go to anyone about this. It feels odd, and I'm afraid somethings wrong.
