I strained my calf. The problem that I felt pain in calf but I kept running what worsened things a lot. I put on ice pack as soon as I came home, and pain fade for couple of hours. I don’t how much I have to rest before I run again. I don’t want to take a risk and damage my calf more. It is little inflamed too. Is it safe to take some medication for inflammation?

I had two years ago partial torn of the calf muscle. I had severe pain in calf. It was impossible for me to run. It takes me almost 12 weeks to run again. I am active runner, so it was very hard time for me. I used ibuprofen for inflammation. It you just strain I guess that week of rest would be enough, but anyway ask for doctors advice to be sure.
