The above statements is not true. Yes you can get pregnant during and after menopause my mother is almost 60 years old and she got pregnant after menopause. I've heard many stories and I've watched way too many of those doctor shows LOL it is definitely possible to get pregnant. Google the research of a 72 year old woman and an 83 year old man having a natural baby with natural childbirth. Without help!

Since a female is born with roughly 300k eggs, I'd say we don't *run out* of eggs! It's not hard for a post menopausal woman to have a baby, all it takes is a correction in hormones to stimulate the reproductive system. This can be chemically achieved, That's why so many 50 plus woman can give birth.

I turned 50 this year and I haven't had a period in six years. Last month, I went into septic shock from severe pneumonia and fell into a coma. I was totally out for 7 days, then I was very confused and incoherent for two days, then I woke up as myself after that. I was in ICU for 9 days, CCU for 6 more, then transferred to managed care for 10 days so I could learn to walk again. As soon as I checked into managed care, I had a damned period! How could this be?

I worked for an OB/GYN for 20 years. Once you have stopped menstruating for 12 months or more you no longer produce eggs for fertilization. If you have not had a hysterectomy you could try IVF, but at your age it would not be recommended. The chances for Down's Syndrome and other complications of neural tube defects increase with age. You should also think of the kind of life the child would have as you would be in your 70's before he/she even graduated high school You could consider adoption of an older child or maybe even a surrogate, which would be highly unlikely considering the lack of egg production. No offense but you should think of the kind of life you would want to give a child and the ability to do so as age increases. I am not judging, that is left to a higher power, but you did ask. I am merely answering a question.

I am 56 years old Latina, been married for almost 30 years to Jewish man, have two grown-up children, even have a toddler grandchild. Work-wise, I am an administrator at a local college.

At 35 years of age I went on Depo-Provera regimen. During this time I had regular intercourse but my periods were very sporadic and short--between four or five times a year and lasting only one to two days. By the time I turned 45 years of age I stopped with Depo-Provera and went on birth-control pills. The pills caused me to bleed and spot on irregular basis. Per OB/GYN, my body needed to adjust to the new birth-control method.

At age 46, I was diagnosed with osteopenia (thinning of the bones) and decided to stop birth-control all together. Especially, since my husband got a vasectomy. When I turned 47, my periods became regular and heavy; they started to last between 4 and 5 days. I had a short-lived affair with with my high school boyfriend (also, 47 years old at the time) and about a year long affair with an associate professor who was 31 years old then. We started out with condoms but shortly thereafter switched to birth-control suppositories. Long story short, I found out I was pregnant, not sure if it was my young lover's or my husband's. I suspected my husband's because there's always a chance for a 'vesectomized' male to produce viable sperm. I terminated the pregnancy out of fear and shame, since the other man was Latino. Even after the termination my breasts continued to grow from 36B to 36D. They became very full and sensitive, and I started lactating. To relieve pain, I had to express between 6 ounces and 8 ounces of breastmilk every single day until I was almost 49 years old. Then it went down to about two ounces to four ounces of breastmilk per day until I was 51. At 53, I was perimenopausal according to my OB/GYN. I was having irregular periods again and light spotting in between.

Just before my 55th. birthday I stopped having periods but still had clear colostrum-like discharge from my nipples. My doctor put me on hormone replacement therapy and also prescribed me an estrogen ring to counter vaginal atrophy. Within 6 months, I found myself to be attractive again and I went through a big transformation by exercising and eating healthy. I still had my fuller breasts producing a few ounces of breastmilk but I became very well toned allover. I noticed both young and old guys checking me out. Can easily pass for someone in her forties and many assume that my grandchild is rather my child. Though I wasn't depressed anymore and my vagina felt like it did when I was in my thirties, there was something still missing. I started to feel neglected since my husband was either too tired or was too busy with work and he is hardly in the mood for sex.

At the health club I became friends with a divorced 36 years old man who is my spin-cycle partner. He is very muscular, fit and has excellent stamina. Over time we became even closer and for one reason or another we became lovers. We were using condoms in the beginning but I found them to be too rough and soon started having sex without them on regular basis. The first time we had sex without a condom and when he ejaculated, I squirted. Squirting is something that I had never experienced ever in my life until then, but now it happens almost always with him exclusively. Now considering menopause, I was pretty confident that I wasn't going to get pregnant, but I am now--almost 19-weeks along and it took about 3 months of unprotected coitus. The baby is perfectly healthy and we are keeping her. I feel my breasts are getting fuller and heavier again, and I have also begun to lactate a bit more. My young lover (baby's father) and I spend time together, and we do have sex on regular basis. He almost always grabs my breasts and suckles on my nipples when we are having sex, especially as he is about to ejaculate. The sensation of my the warm breastmilk squirting from my nipples makes me very wet and turned-on, and it elevates the intensity of my orgasm. My husband knows everything and he is fine, but our children don't know any details. They are somewhat flabbergasted that their mother is pregnant at this age.

I am wondering if there is any correlation between younger man's sperm and an aging woman getting pregnant. Is it possible for a younger man to trigger the ovary to produce an egg? Is it his testosterone? Is it the physical size of his penis? Does it have to do with mind-blowing orgasms that he gives me? Why do I feel depressed if I don't have sex with him? Not saying that I don't like sex with husband; we still do it once or twice a week but I feel happier with my lover. Any ideas? Sorry for such a long post. I wanted the readers to get a full picture.
