Doctor said that I have mild type of pneumonia. He prescribed me few medications and I feel ok now. I read somewhere that chloramphenicol can be use to treat pneumonia. I don’t take this medication but I would like to know can I use chloramphenicol for pneumonia? Anybody knows that?

Well, I heard that pediatricians usually prescribe chloramphenicol to children with severe pneumonia. I think that they choose this medication when pneumonia is bacterial and when it’s very severe. As you know chloramphenicol kills bacteria and it can be used for any infection caused by susceptible bacteria. That’s all I know.
