Most likely you will gain weight. The thyroid when working propely uses food as fuel but when you do not have one its like a car without and engine. You can fill it up with gasoline but the car isn't going anywhere. You will have to limit what you eat and exercise a lot ut the results maybe much. I am a thyroid cancer survivor and I have gained wieght and its a struggle everyday when people think I am over eating when I barely eat anything. My energy level is so low but i still try and keep active. Good luck and take care.

I am wondering how you two doing after nearly a year and 3 month after removal of the thyroid gland. I had mine removed just three day's ago and get the scare of my life reading about weight gain, and all other side effects associated with the medicine. Please I would be happy to hear from you both how you're doing today.
