What is the difference between clipizide and insulin that is used in diabetes? My friend has to take clipizide in form of tablets every day. Is it as effective as insulin in control of sugar in blood? He was diagnosed diabetes 2 months ago and since that has been on clipizide. Can it really control this disease?

It is actually glipizide, and is indicated in diabetes type 2, that is insulin independent. Insulin is given when pancreas can not produce that hormone on its own. Glipizide is oral antidiabetic that can stimulate pancreas to produce insulin and that way lowers sugar in blood. So, diabetes type 1 and type 2 are different diseases. A friend of mine also has adult diabetes (type2) and is on glipizid. It can control disease if taken very properly, every day at the same time.
