Hi, diabetes is characterized by too much sugar in the blood. But when people say diabetes, they usually mean the one that requires insulin. Glucose level in the blood is controlled, and after meal insulin is secreted to provide absorption of sugar in the cells. Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas. In cases where pancreas is not capable to produce sufficient amount of insulin, it must be taken as medicine. But, if there is a problem of insulin receptor, then oral antidiabetic drugs are very effective. Your doctor can do some tests to determine if you are patient for insulin or not.
