Thank god for the internet!! Thank you everyone for posting. I swear, I thought my cervix was falling apart! Its been 6 days since I had my colp and I didnt experience anything at all. No pain, no discharge, nothing. Until just a few minutes ago. My doctor didnt warn me about anything. Is all she said is no sex, tampons or douching. Thanks doc! Im kind of mad and I think I am calling tomorrow just because. There should be a pamphlet or something that they give us that states all the things that may happen after the colp. No instead we all do an internet search to make sure our insides are not falling out. That was awful. First thing I thought was I needed to go to the ER and then envisioned them having to do a hysterectomy or something. Unreal!

Yup, same thing happened to me. It was a grayish tissue thing with coffee grinds. It looked like a dissected prune or something. I'm glad I wasn't the only one. It's been 3 days. The procedure made me dizzy for about 10 minutes afterward. I was back to normal 1 hour later.

Omg thank u ladies! This website is like stress relief. I'm up here like thank God for the internet. Lol yeah so I had my colpo on Thursday, its now Saturday. All my doc said is that there'd b brownish/black discharge from the paste & mayb a little spotting for about 3days. So naturally wen I used the bathroom 2day, wiped myself &felt like I had pulled a tampon out of me, I started freakin out. Wondering why the hell my doctor (or any of yours) didn't mention this. Hell, I only had little discharge that she mentioned the day of! Never expected that large glob of tissue &blood 2drop outta me. I too thought about a miscarriage.. anyhoo, its comforting 2kno I'm not n this alone. Peace &blessings ladies. Best wishes!

Okay. I'm good now. I had my colpo on Thursday and I've had an orange reddish Tissue like discharge, no cramping or bleeding. I was scared but obviously its normal.

Same thing here. I had my colposcopy and two biopsies a week ago tomorrow. I have been having a pale grey coffee ground discharge for days and after reading online heard about the tissue like discharge that could occur. The discharge had a slight metallic smell and made me worried that there was tissue inside of me that should no longer be there, so like several women before in the thread...for lack of a more PC way to say it... I fished it out manually. What was produced was a several quarter sized pieces of dark grey-black tissue with the same metallic odor. Kinda "sac-like" as some people described. My obgyn had told me to expect the coffee ground discharge and a small "scab" but I didn't expect anything of this magnitude. Hopefully the worst is over.

I just had the same exact thing happen to me today! I had my colposcopy and biopsy on Thursday and here it is, 3 days later with this unusual discharge. I came across this webiste to see if I could find more information about it and I was relieved to see that there were more women going through the same thing. It gives me a feeling that this might be a 'normal' side effect.

Another woman with the same thing here!

3 days after the col I really had nothing but yellow mustard like discharge. (which I was warned about)
I was told to expect some discharge that is mascara-like.

During my shower one of those weird tissue pieces came out and I wanted to make sure there wasn't more.
As others here I thought it was gauze or something left inside me.

Then I pulled a huge piece the size of my hand. I literally dry heaved, threw it away and then was crying thinking something was really wrong or it was a miscarriage before I came here to find others with the same thing.

Horrible experience, thanks for sharing ladies!
Having a little cramping and hope there's no more "surprises"!

I just had the same thing happen to me. I immediately rushed to look it up because I wasn't told that anything like that would happen. I knew it could be a little here and there, but not a humungo clump. I stumbled on this site first - thank you so much for posting. It makes me feel so much better.

How could our doctors not warn us of the possibility of large chunks of flesh coming out of us?!?!?! Thanks everyone for posting so we know we aren't alone... and dying.

I just had my colp done on tuesday and about 20 minutes ago i went to the bathroom and found a huge piece of this skin like discharge when i wiped. I have not bled since the procedure but this discharge started on wednesday. I am very nervous about it. I took a picture of it to show my doc when i go back for my results in about a week and a half. I hope that this is normal. I am a little relieved by everyones post thank you ladies.

I just read someones post on another forum this is what it said, found it helpful:

"My experiences
I've had 2 colposcopies (about 9 months apart) and the following have occured both times and I have been told by my doctor are completely normal. Basically it is your body trying to heal from a cut (literally) and that part of your body is forming "scabs" and the skin in sloughing off...

- brownish/pink discharge
- large tissue masses (sometimes with a little blood-looking color)
- bright yellow color for the first day or so (this is because of the dye/iodine they use to stain the skin and heal the wound)
- not-so-pleasant odor

In my experience this generally lasts about a week and then slowly goes away. I would guess if I had true blood or this lasted longer than a week I would def. call my GYN. Hope this helps!"
