Well, it's possible. It would take more than one example to confirm a diagnoisis.
The fact that you are troubled by this behavior is enough to have me suggest that you speak with a counselor.
The desire to check on your pets that they are safe and OK is not excessive. However, once you have checked twice, you should feel assured that all is OK.
If you have similar issues where you are constantly checking doors through the house, and elsewhere in your life, there may be more to it.
Good luck. Let us know what your doctor says.

hi there are more examples when i go to bed i have to check my bed room door is always shut. another reason why i suspect it is cos my mum said one of her friends said her daughter has ocd she is on medication but it made her very moody which according to my mum i get very moody i also get depression which i have had since i was about 12. but i think i may know what started this ocd thing off i have never told anyone this before cos i thought people would think im mad but if i can talk about it on here maybe i will have the guts to talk about it to my counseller on friday. when i was about eleven my mum went to a pyschic medium and one thing he told her was that she would be a young grandmother after when she told me this i said well it certainly wont be from me and thats when it started i was anxouis all the time wondering if i would pregnant in my teens and slowly this is how it may have affected me i have never told anyone this before never and i probably do sound totally mad thanks for listening

I can't say if that's related to OCD or your situation, but I absolutely feel that you need to bring that up with your counselor.
That's a terrible trip to lay on a 12 year old, and your counsel needs to be aware that:
1) She said that to you and why, and
2) How much it has meant to you, and
3) How it affects your behavior.
Have faith, kiddo.... there are a lot of people who have learned to cope with this type of behavior.
You can too. Keep the faith, and keep your appointments with your counselor.
Good luck!

Hi there, I haven't told this to many people on the forum but I actually do suffer from OCD. It sounds to me like you've got a lot of the classic signs. You definitely should see a therapist about this because, like you, I feel the need to check things over and over again. I'm older than you and let me tell you, the sooner you catch this, the better off you are! I have a friend who didn't know she was OCD until she was 35!! Can you imagine? ANyway, please tell me any updates you've got, okay? I want to know how you are! Thanks :-)

WOW!!! So glad to hear that. It is such a relief to know the nature of the beast that you're fighting, right? I'm so glad you got help so much earlier too. My OCD developed fully when I was 16, but I didn't get helpf or it until I turned 24. Trust me, you are better off knowing now! Let me know how your treatment goes and if you ever need anything okay?? Big hugs!! :)
