Hi guys my partner suffers from the same thing, and it' gets really sore and the foreskin gets really tight, and there are little cracks on the shaft near the top of the penis, he's got diabetes, but what helps is a cortisone cream mixed with dactarin cream, washing with shampoo or soap doesnt help, it just seems to dry it out even more, you can wash with aqueous cream for a while, which also helps. Don't be embarrassed about it, doctors are use to looking at willies in all shapes and sizes with all kind of ailments, and they look at it as a body part not a sexual organ. Look at what the fear is doing to your life, grab the bull by the horns, you'll only feel uncomfortable while your waiting to see the doctor and while your talking to him/her about it, and afterwards you'll wonder why you were so stressed. Good Luck

Dude i know how u feel. After i had sex without using a condom i started seeing just one little redspot. I was convinced it was herpes. I waited a long time about 7 months until i told my parents. I didnt know what to do, i guess i was hoping it would just go away. So i got tested for clymidia and herpes but both came out negative. I found that with time my penis started getting redder and started cracking. Most of the doctors i saw said it might be a yeast infection so they gave me some pills that i stayed on for 3 days, but ive had this thing for months so im thinking mabye alot longer i should be on the pills. Some times it gets irritated. I find that if i dont shower as often as i used to then the reddness goes away, but that doesnt mean it isnt an infection because this thing started happening after i had sex. I hate it how the doctors cant tell me an answer so i can get on with my life and mabye not be scared to go out with my friends and drink without having to worry about my problem. I just want to be a kid again and have some fun.

I believe that the dry patches on my skin was from oral sex. My last partner decided it would be a good idea to use her teeth on my penis. That, in turn, caused two equal infections on the right and left side of my penis head. Make sure to check for small slashes (teeth marks) in the shower. However, using DIAL soap may infect the tender area, so be careful when washing. My condom broke during sex and of course I assumed the worse. The one good thing is that all IS curable within the human body.

Lay off the masturbation / sex for awhile , and start eating flax oil or hemp oil or rose hip oil topically is ace too.

Guys I used to get cracked skin many yrs ago and solved that problem!
Yes it's simply solvable by not using soap! coz that area of the skin absorbs chemicals and is quite delicate and sensitive. I aleviated the problem by using the body shops soap and chemical free body wash which also moisterisers your skin! Hostestly guys, your all adults now! SOAP is a NO NO %-)

All the symptoms that have been described are happening to me right now:

dry, tight foreskin (red, cracked, peeling)
spots on the head
minor burning, itching
wrinkled head

There are a few possibilities as to what caused it. My theories are either

-A new, random soap i used (live in a frat house with shared bathroom)
-Not washing after sex
-Sex without enough lubrication - my girlfriend is REALLY tight so I have to warm her up pretty good or use lube. Sometimes I'm impatient and want to get to it.
-STD - I doubt it. my gf and i have both been tested and we are clean

So far I have been applying vaseline to the foreskin of my penis to repair the dryness and irritation, so far it seems to be working nicely. I am cleaning my penis every day, using only water. I am going to refrain from having sex for a while, and hopefully this will all get better

I have had the same problem as everyone else here. in particular the thread creator.

I had unprotected sex for the first time with a girl. And a week later discovered i had clamydia. After a few angry phone calls, a keyd car and taking the antibiotics i developed a dry skin problem which i was pretty sure must have been thrush.

after searching on the internet i found simular symptoms and the cause generally, unprotected sex + antibiotics = thrush.

I began treating it with a thrush cream (you can buy them off the net if ur shy) and noticed a slight improvement.
First of all. the most important thing i did was to get myself a full check up (you can buy these off the net too, but NHS is free ^_^), i felt alot better about myself after having the knowledge i was "clean".

Secondly im pretty darn sure i didnt have this problem before i had unprotected sex, but as my doctor said many men react different ways to products as well as woman ^_^. So i was pretty sure this was just me reacting. But you can catch thrush, as well as naturally have it, which is generally detected in high quantities only (when it comes to the STI tests).

I use a thush cream when ever the problem looks like its about to return (follow the directions, so apply like 3 -4 times a day, your penis absorbs the main active ingredients in a few hours, otherwise theres no point applying it at all ^_^). Cortizone antihistamine stuff is good too.

Oh yeah, and i cut down on the masterbation a bit ^_^.(Im sure you were all told at school masterbation is completely healthy, but too much is very likely to temporarily damage the skin on your penis.)

Apart from that i dont seem to have the problem that much, generally i might get it for a week or so in summer when my groin is a little hot. Or when i been out for a night on the tiles (drinking) no problems chillaxing (smoking) but charlie/phets/mda etc tend to provoke it and i get it pretty bad for a week or two. But a cortizone/thrush cream tends to clear it up.

It all depends on the lifestyle im in at the time. sometimes i eat a radically healthy diet (fish, fruit, salad and veg) and excersice regularly, a swim a day, gym every now and then and the problem goes away completely. Blantitis and thrush are often caused by stress. and a few late nights at a rave or even my PC can bring on the early signs again.

Overall ive had this problem for One and a half years now and its just a part of my general routine. when i get a headache i take paracetamol. when i got a bit of a problem down there ^_^ i put on the cream. There loads of people that battle with recurring problems like these. (its just like my chapped lips ^_^ as in on my face, naughty)

Thrush, blantitis etc tends to be caused by something, drinking, poor diet, poor soap, too many tommy tankers (masturbation) etc. however not wanting to scare any of you lovely people, but recurring thrush can be a sign of diabetes or simular blood problems.

And i leave you with the inevitable answer on nearly every health forum.

If in doubt, Go see a doctor.

All of these symptoms I have read for the past five posts have similarities to the ones that I have. After looking at the research and going to various different websites I'm almost positive that it is male yeast infection. Itchy, burning when urinating, small bumps, swollen glands, redness on penis head, dry cracked skin under the head on the shaft. All of these are symptoms of yeast infection so get it checked out I'm almost positive that's what it is. No I am not a doctor but have looked male yeast infections up quite diligently so go get it checked and I hope it's nothing serious. Try spitting twice in a glass of water inthe morning. If after ten minutes it is cloudy and spider web like with particles in the bottom you most likely have a yeast infection. If your spit dissolves out and doesn't get cloudy then it's most likely something else

I too have had problems with dry skin. I recently had a very bad type of bug that made me very sick for three days. While being sick I took a shower and washed my penis, but I was so out of it I forgot to wash off the soup. I noticed it later that day and now it's cracked pretty bad (little bit of blood)and red on the foreskin. I have had this happen to me when I was a teenager. I have found that using baby wipes are awesome. If you keep it clean and use neosporin it will heal pretty quickly. Not having an erection really helps. And pulling the foreskin back when going to the bathroom makes life easier but can be painful.

Gents - I've got the same problem right now and am now damn sure it's due to antibiotics coupled with unprotected sex. I was taking an amoxicillin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amoxicillin) derivative for an infected wound and merrily having unprotected sex with my gf the whole time unaware that this can result in thrush! Great! So now I'm on the canestan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canestan) and things should hopefully improve.

ok here goes: I have a small red spot the size of your pinky nail on my penis head, its sore, the skin has a gritty rough texture its almost as if its thinner or infected. My gf had a yeast infection around the time i got the problem, and i had finished a round of antibiotics. It was initially very painful just on that small spot with underware contact and sex, it has lessoned over the last 7 months, but come on thats a long time and a pain in the ass. I can power through it butbecause of that one spot sex is not the same as it was prior to this. Also I had never had this symptom in my life have always been healty and it came on very sudden. I have been to a urologist, doctor, and will be going to a dermatologist next week i hope to post the solution when it is found. Here is what I have tried so far.

HIV- Negative
Hepatitis A,B,C-Negative
Syphilis-Negative
Herpes sym 2-Negative
Chlamidya-Negative
Gonorrhea-Negative
Trichomoniasis urine test-Negative tested at TCL

Antibiotics taken with out result

Cipro 500mgx2 for 7 days
Dioxacillin 100mgx2 for 7 days
Zithromax 1g
tinidazole 2g
diflucan 150mgx2
Metronidazole 750mg extended release 1 X day for 7 days

Topical creams taken so far

Fluorouracil cream 5 % 3x per day for 1 week no results or change of rash/irriated patch of skin.
Ciclopirox cream twice a day for 4 weeks, some result achieved on small rash. Sharp pain gone, discomfort and sensitivity gone small amount of irritation still remains but not as bad as it was prior to cream usage. Taken from 9-12 to 10-13-08.
Temovate cream twice daily for 2 weeks no results.
Clotimazole and Bentamethasone Dipropionate cream twice a day for two weeks no result.

Dermatologis will be seen soon, its just one small spot not spreading, just a sensitive spot lasting for 7 months now and healing very slowly over time its as if the infection cant quite be reached by ceream alone. I will write an upfdate when a biopsy is done or when the dermatologist makes a proper diagnosis.
