Hi. I would like to hear more about MRSA strains. Are they dangerous? What is MRSA and who gets it? What are the treatment options?

Hi. MRSA means methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus. MRSA strains are similar with other strain of s. aureus. However, most s. aureus infections are treatable with common antibiotics. MRSA strains, on the other hand, are resistant to many types of antibiotics. Treatment of MRSA includes antibiotics, but this choice is limited. Healthy people who carry MRSA don`t require any treatment. Sometimes they can use antiseptic lotions and shampoos to clear the bacteria from their skin. People who are already in hospital are more likely to get MRSA. That means people who are already very ill are more likely to get it.
