Ah! The sound and the fury... I think that no matter what anyone writes to respond to your response to the original response, you'll use it to indulge in more anti-circ vitriol, name calling and florid rhetoric. If anyone wants real information about circumcision, and real answers to their questions, ask a doctor, or better still ask two different doctors who are not associated with each other. Don't turn to a bunch of anonymous strangers on the internet who try to get through the door on someone else's push by writing outraged responses to responses, and don't waste your time actually trying to answer any question asked by an intactivist.

Well you have certainly explained the reason for cutting the urethra open all the way back to the coronal ridge.

What you're actually saying is you believe his son has a MORAL right to retain his foreskin, which is debatable, and always will be, (though not as far as you're concerned). Parents do have a LEGAL right to have their sons circumcised, for any reasons they see fit, and that is NOT debatable. This is a red herring frequently used by intactivists. If you honestly believe you are acting in your sons best interests at the time you have your him circumcised, whatever your reasons, you are off the hook morally. You have done nothing wrong, even if you change your mind later. How is trying to make parents feel ashamed and guilty over having a routine medical procedure that has been performed on millions of boys, in the best interests of the parents or the child?

I got mine done in high school and I'm glad because I've found a LOT more ladies like circumcised better.

The story I heard was that doctors do the little split to the urethra so boys have to stand closer to the toilet bowl, and aren't as likely to get the floor wet :).

Little split to the coronal ridge!!!!???? That would about an inch long or more. I would think that should be classified as mutilation and a jailable offense. The doctor must be related to the Marquis De Sade.
It's always been my practice to pull my foreskin back to expose the tip so it doesn't spray all over the place and I would think removing the foreskin would provide that automatically for a cut guy. I've even heard the teen girls at Dunkin Donuts mention the mess in the mens room and then say don't their mothers teach them to pull their foreskins back? So I don't think it's a secret.

The studies were NOT 'flawed' except in the eyes of those already brainwashed to be opposed to all circumcisions.
The USA does indeed have both a high circumcision rate and a high HIV rate, but at present the major sources of HIV infection are shared use of needles by drug users abd anal sex. Circumcision cannot reduce these forms of infection. However it DOES reduce heterosexually transmitted HIV - a method becomming more critical in the USA (as it already is in Africa).

RIC is not a medical procedure, because no medical condition has been diagnosed, or any injury discovered, and thus nothing is being treated. Even ignoring this, medical procedures are only indicated when all effective, more conservative options have been found unworkable or unsuccessful. Amputation is ALWAYS considered the least conservative option for treatment, while every purported benefit of RIC is more effectively achieved by other means. That is "NOT debatable." Not to mention the absurdity of your suggestion that one's personal preferences have any relevance whatsoever to ANOTHER person's medical treatment. "Best interests of the child" are not for parents to determine, when it comes to performing surgery, amputation or otherwise.

I find it amazing in this country that we routinely put teenagers on trial as adults for serious crimes. The claim is they were mature enough to rob a store or commit murder so they are mature enough to be convicted as an adult and serve the same time that an an adult would serve.
Now, parents "decide to circumcise their son" at the same age. Suddenly, the child is a child again, no rights and no way to say no.
There is some seriously wrong with that thinking.
LISTEN TO THIS EVERY TEENAGER BEING TOLD YOU WILL BE CIRCUMCISED NOT MATTER YOUR OPINION!
Cry child abuse! Swear your parents have touched you inappropriately. Phone child protective services and report the doctor for inappropriately touching you. Demand a lawyer, sue for emancipation or at least a guardian that can control your circumcision decision until you turn 18.
All is fair in love and war and that would be war. If my parents had told me at 13 they were going to mutilate my penis, I'd have used any and every legal means to stop such abuse.

A friend had her 11 year old circumcised since her husband at the time when her son was born was opposed to circ and is no longer in her life

Unless she specifically told you she requested them, frenulectomy and meatotomy (cutting the urethra) may not be your mom's fault. Some doctors do them more or less routinely.

If I were your son, I'd kick you in the nuts at random intervals just to make sure that when you "Decided to have MY SON circumcised at 13", it wasn't you decision.
But on a lighter note, there is a vaccine for HPV, HepA, HepB. HepC has a cure. So, when there is a cure or vaccine for HIV what will you tell him then? Opps?
Only a monster wants to trim off normal healthy skin from a normal healthy child. Shame on your sorry ass!

Your friend will burn in hell.
There is a special spot in hell 500 degrees hotter than the rest of hell for parents that mutilate their children for no reason.

Whoever wrote this probably got the terms wrong. A meatotomy enlarges the opening downward, toward the underside of the penis, and only enlarges it a small amount.
