My mom told me that my dad had a cardiac arrest last night in the hospital and that he has been done a defibrillation to make him survive, and luckily they managed to do so. However, I am wondering what is this defibrillation that they have given it to him? Thanx for the info!

I am very sorry to hear about your dad! Does he suffer from any heart disease? Defibrillation is a procedure when a patient is given an electric shock to the heart with an electronic device. It is done in order to restore a normal heartbeat during arrhythmia or in cardiac arrest. A defibrillation must be done 4-6 min after cardiac arrest otherwise chances of survival are rather small. I suppose that the hospital stuff acted promptly in your father’s case, otherwise it could have been fatal.
