I'm 16 and I started having really really horrible cramps and kind of like a bruising feeling on my ribs, hips, and legs, and there was blood in my urine, that started on Valentine's Day, I went to the doctor a couple of days later and they sent me straight to the hospital to have a CT SCAN done. It came back that I had an ovarian cystic on my right ovary and it had ruptured(because I had sex with my boyfriend on Valentine's Day). Now, I have a yellowish, whiteish discharge coming out, is that infection coming out of me? I have to go back into my doctor again next week and get tested to see if there's still blood in my urine and if there is, I have to get surgery to get the oter cysts removed.. I'm scared, and I have so many questions about ovarian cysts. Help!

Hi,  I am 47 and last August started feeling pain in my right side.  After christmas the pain got worse and went to doctors.  Referred for a trans vaginal ultra sound and came back with a 3 cm luteal cyst (normal period cyst) and a few small 2mm or 3mm cysts.  Pain got worse and then had 2 days of clear mucus/fluid about a month ago.  After the discharge stopped I noticed that the pain had also stopped but by then had a referral to gastro for a colonoscopy.  Now had this procedure  as a precaution even tho I told consultant had had no pain for 2 days prior to visit but wanted to make sure was nothing sinister. No pain, nothing in colon either so happy that answer was the cyst had burst and consequently pain went.

I came on here to see if others were having the same symptoms and I see they are mostly the same. A little over a week ago was my ovulation cycle and I noticed that I was'nt having any ovulation discharge, but I also started having a pinching pain on my left side. Other symptoms I have had are hip pain that started about a week prior, lower back pain, and swollen lymph nodes on the left side of my body. The pain on my left side would come and go, but two days ago while on vacation it started to get worse. I was getting kind of freaked out and thought maybe I should head to the ER, but I also read several stories from others who said the docs really did'nt do anything for them, but put them on the pill or pain meds (neither an option for me). After these bouts of (twisting/pinching) pain I had cramping pain in my uterus, that felt like period cramping and then I had heavy (clear/white) mucous discharge several times on and off. The next day I woke up and all the pain was gone! Thank you Lord! So it appears I had a ruptured cyst, which means my hormone levels are also off kilter. I should also note that a few days prior to it bursting I started taking kelp supplements and chlorella tablets, so that may have altered my hormone status and helped to clear it out. I also ordered some Vitex/Chasteberry, which helps to regulate your hormones, so I am going to start taking that when it arrives. I have used it in the past with great results when my hormones were off.

Have any of your symptoms been anxiety or sadness, depressed moods? I have a very large cyst on my right ovary. Size of an apple. I've only had one (that I know of) before and that was 20 years ago. But since March I began struggling with anxiety and depressed moods. I only recently obtained medical insurance and found a new GYN which is when we discovered the cyst. I'm wondering if it has been causing my emotional issues. Perhaps they have been due to hormone fluctuation. Curious.

I found out about my problems with cysts when I was having sex about 4 years ago. There was pain during and the next day was much worse. I would have a pain in my left abdomen all the way to the top of my shoulder. I screamed until I had no more air in my lungs. I couldn't inhale until the spasm stopped which at times seemed like forever. It would alternate from left to right. After 2 days in the er the dr finally put 2 and 2 together to figure out the fluid in my abdomen was blood. They put me into surgery immediately. It turns out I had a cyst rupture during intercourse and it left a hole in my ovary. Now that I no longer have that one I have been trying to hold into the other one. Contraceptives DID NOT WORK! Now last week with my husband I thought I had peed on him during the act. He smelled the clear watery discharge and swears there is no way it could be urine. Since then I have been having pains much worse than my most recent ruptures. I'm wondering if this is another one ruptured?

The most recent episode you mention sounds like kidney stone and kidney infection. See a doctor!

Did you ever find out what the discharge was? I am confirmed to have cysts but now I am having discharge that looks like either the chocolate cyst or blood stained mucous. If you could give me some insight i would appreciate it.

Okay, reoccurring cysts and endometriosis are completely separate conditions unrelated to each other. I've had both, and one doesn't cause the other to become better or worse. Women commonly get cysts when the egg doesn't release from the ovary. Endometriosis is supposedly caused by endometrial tissue deposited in unusual locations, but the fact is the true cause is unknown. What the two conditions have in common is they mostly occur in women during their child-bearing years. The only way to know you have endo is surgery. The only way.
