It has been 5 days since I was ER for a ruptured cyst. They said I have free fluid that is causing the pain. saw my OB a few days ago and said it will take time for the fluid to absorb. my question is. has anyone else had back pain with ruptured cyst and how long did it take to get better. This all started with back pain which I though I pulled something, was not getting better went back to the doctor told her I had some other new symtoms...pelvic pain, cramping, exstreme bloating and just feeling ill...she did a pelvic exam and felt the cyst and sent me to have an ultrasound which confirmed a leaking cyst, which completely ruptured two days later causing me to be very sick :-( ....anyways please let me know if anyone has had this happen and how long does it take to heal....I am not worried I am just tired of the pain....also, if anyone knows of anything that might ease the pain...I have done heating pad, hot shower on my back and belly.......thank you for your time...

Hi:
I have not had a ruptured cysts, but I have many, that are not being treated because they are not causing me any uncomfortable symptoms that I can't live with. However, I'd like to be of some help. Have you considered a second opinion. If your cyst ruptured a few days after the ultrasound, perhaps they should have taken more aggressive treatment. Have you had a complete series of exams that would provide the doctors with more info? Are you satisfied with the plan to treat your symptoms, i.e. meds? If not, see someone else you might take a more aggressive approach to your problem. You shouldn't have to suffer thru this. Maybe a little discomfort would be ok, but not all of the things that you are going thru. I hope you will be feeling better soon. Let us know how things are going for you.

I just found out today that I have a ruptured ovarian cyst. My symptoms have all been in my back for the past two weeks. I also thought I pulled something, but after many visits to my chiropractor, who thought some more was going on, I visited my doctor in severe pain. I was given pain meds and told to take it easy. After living on pain pills for a week and being awakened with more back pain, I returned to my doctor today. She sent me for a CT Scan right away and they discovered I have a cyst on both ovaries and it looks like at least one has ruptured because the is fluid in my pelvis. What happens now?

Hello, I can truely understand your pain. I had a cyst that was 7cm that bursted 2 weeks ago. Its started with ab pain, bloating sharp pains in the stomach area and then back pain. I was in so much pain that I was on the floor at work. Docs at the E.R told me it was a ruptured cysts. They sent me home with pain meds and I still have pain even after two weeks. I called the nures line and they told me that it would take a little time maybe even 4 weeks. Doesn't sound good to me. But if your pain gets severe then I would go back in to see a doc. Hope you feel better. I know your pain. And yes I have done the heating pad, hot shower, hot tub you name it. But hopefully our relief will come soon. Take care.

I have PCOS and am all too familiar with ruptured cysts. I have found that nothing works for me except an ice pack and sleep. By the time I wake up the pain is mostly gone, or at least greatly eased.Hope that helps!
