My mother has just started to take Methotrexate. It’s necessary because she has certain type of cancer and doctors decided to try with this kind of treatment. I don’t know too much about this drug. Somebody told me that it can low your ability to fight with infection. Does Methotrexate make you more susceptible to infections?

Unfortunately, it does. Methotrexate may decrease your body's ability to fight infections. It may reduce white blood cell count and that can make your body more susceptible to infection. So, tell your mother to avoid contact with people who have colds or infections. Also she needs to be more careful not to cut or injure herself.
