So I have these red blotches/ dots on the head of my penis and foreskin. They dont really itch, but nonetheless are bothersome. Ive actually had them for quite some time now a couple years. THey used to go away and come back, but now they are always there. I have never showed them to a doctor out of embarrasment, I have been tested for STD's several times, but never tested for herpes from what I know of (Ive only had tests that were blood tests, I think u need a swab for herpes tests?). I never thought it was herpes because its not painful or itchy, and there is no discharge ever, they just some times become very dry and the skin falls off.

I have had unproctected sex with several partners, and have been with my gf and only my gf for the past year and a half. She seems to not be worried about them.

Anyone have any idea what it is? I know I know, go to the doctor, I will, but I need a bit more time to gather the courage to do so.

Hey,

The blotches could be anything. Herpes typically presents itself as vesicles that last for 7-10 days. The vesicles are painful and when they are filled with fluid you swab them and get a culture done. That is a concrete way to determine if it is herpetic.

The blotchiness could be anything. If it is herpes it isn't that big of a deal. Herpes is WAY overrated.

If I were you I would go see a doctor and get the following test done IgG and IgM. IgG test if there has been a recent infection, IgM test if you have had an infection for a longer period. These test aren't perfect but the best science has at the moment.

Hang in there. There are a lot worse health problems than Herpes and it looks like there will be solutions and cures in the future too.

I hope this helps.

To me it sounds like there is a 10% chance it might be herpes. Especially if you know you were exposed at some point -- (unprotected sex).

You should never feel embarrassed to show your doctor something that concerns you. If your doctor is a professional then it won't matter.

One way you can be 100% it isn't herpes is if you go to a doctor and ask for an IgM and IgG test which measure the antibodies in your blood.

Unfortunately herpes can at times be very ambiguous. Some people have it and don't have symptoms at all. So get some blood work done and then you can rest easy.

I'm sorry I can't give you a more concrete answer, science is going to be your ally at putting your fears to rest. It sucks to be in limbo, so make an appointment with a doctor.

Get yourself checked out, for your sake and your future partners sake too.

Also please don't take this the wrong way, but life is filled with troubling things that will happen to you. Cancer, death of a loved one, ect... this is NOTHING. It's not easy, but figuring out how to stand on your feet and confront the crumby parts of life is ESSENTIAL to living a happy and long life.

Either way, you are going to be fine.
