Hi, I have diagnosed dysplasia on vulva, and I am scared about that. How long does it take to cure it?

Hi, my mother has suffered from vulva dysplasia, and I know how annoying it can be. Vulva dysplasia is caused by the human papillomavirus. Generally, it is not a serious condition but if left untreated for longer time, it may turn into cervical cancer. After you have it cured, you should have follow-up checking. Every woman should perform Pap smear tests annually, in order to avoid any genital disease. HPV is sexually transmitted, and you should pay attention not to get it. But, my suggestion is to take care of genital health in general.

Hi I also have suffered from Vulvar Dysplasia and have had 3 surgerys to remove it. Please make sure you are seeing your Gyno every 6 months to stay on top of this condition. It can turn into Cervical Cancer if left untreated.
The first surgery i had was laser, and 3 months later it was back and also was on the Clitoris. I had a second surgery and this time all of the bad areas were surgically removed. Then 6 months later it was back on just the vulvar and I had to have a vulvectomy.
I have been fine now for over 1 year, and hope that this will be the end of this nightmare. Although the surgerys were not so painful or bad, just the fact that these parts of my body were effected and some having to be removed was very stressful and somewhat depressing.
My advice: Please, Please see your Dr on a regular basis and you will be fine. Also please sign up for the HPV website, it is very informative, and will give you the comfort of knowing you are not alone in this :-)
Stay well. If you have any questions for me please feel free to email me at ***** . Please put something in the Subject box so I will be sure to know who you are, I do not read all emails unless I am sure of the senders.
Stay well and informed !

I had laser treatment 4 days ago and have no experienced much discomfort, but I was told it will get much worse after 5 days. When I asked how long it would take to heal the nurse said everyone is different. Can anyone share their experience?

Hi I have had it for 8 plus years I gave up on the laser my last time they cut it out and I have had no problems in the last 4 yrs till about 3 weeks ago. The laser burns hurt like heck and no the dont heal there in a place that gets no air and most of the time with the laser with mine it only made bad matters worse. I stayed raw I thought its part of the process till I went back only to find the area was worse than b4 so after haven my women hood burnt to death I told them no more and they said we can cut a area and hope we get it well they did less pain healed fine but now i have a place in another spot Im 38 years old. And to be honest I hadnt laid in the tanning bed in those years with no problems but three weeks ago I started laying again and here it is again not sure if the tanning bed makes it angry or what?.?.

I started originally in my twenties getting them frozen off with (Podophyllin resin or podofilox for genital warts (human papillomavirus) i thought that would be the worse i remember i had 2 small children at the time and could barely walk much less sit. many years later in my thirties i had 3 laser surgeries during the course of 10 years each one as painful and as uncomfortable as the other when i had to urinate i thought i would die from the burning. during the last one he also removed an extensive area around the anus.  it is now 13 years later i can honestly say i get extremely dry down there when i have to wipe myself it feels like i have alligator skin on my vulva. sexual intercourse is not very enjoyable anymore but that may also be because i am in my menopausal stage. to be honest if they came back i wouldn't do anything I could not go through that pain again at my age.

Hi, when I was a teenager I noticed a wart on my lower vulva. Dr froze them (there were 2, kinda on the inside of me a tad)off. A couple yrs later at 18, I had my first bad pap. Got sent to a different practice. After biopsies on my cervix, they came back as stage 4 cervical dysplasia. Had a few colposcopies. Ended up needing a cone biopsy. That left me with very little of my cervix left. Had 6 misscairiges, last one at 14 weeks. Horrible. Had a cerclage done at the 12 week mark of my next pregnancy. Scary, the test for deformities came back 1 in 8, had an amnio, SHE was absolutely fine. Bedrest the last month, induced n pushed 3 xs n Dr saw I was gonna pass out n vacuumed her out. April 1st 2002!! So now I'm 43, in January was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, has no cure, only a few yrs left after diagnosis unless ur a candidate for a lung transplant which I'm not. Sorry, off track. So about 6 yrs ago I had a vulvar (inside outer lip) wart. Cut off. Fine. Well now, in June I went to my new gyn office, pretty sure I had 3 warts, same place. I saw a Dr, not my regular gyn, she said I had 1 n a small other one, cut it and stiched them. A month later in July, I went back with itching in the same area. A diff Dr again, said no ur fine but ur lab results came back as stage 2-3 dysplasia. Oh not again I'm thinking. Finally in Sept I saw the Dr who did my hysterectomy. Told her something is wrong. Under the skin is itchy and there's a cut. The cut was from the stitches n she couldn't believe the size of the white, just under the skin. Said it was hard to the touch n who knows how deep. Sent me to a gyn oncologist (scary). He says it's about 3 inches of bad. I could try a cream, but I'm allergic to it, and know my body n knew it wouldn't work. So I am having 3 inces around, then a can of good skin cut off ....still don't know how deep. OMG!!! SAYS I will be able to have sex n my clitoris will be fine. So basically, he's cutting in between those areas. I'm scared out of my mind......about what it will look like!!!!! Can anyone relate?

Hello. I'm about to have my second laser surgery and this time the whole side of the clitoral hood will be removed. You said you had this as well? How are you affected now by the removal of all this tissue? Are you able to have sex? Be stimulated? I'm so scared to death that pleasure will never again happen. Please help. Thanks
