I am 26 weeks pregnant I just got a colospy and a biopsy done. About a month ago I had an abnormal pap, they said I had severe dysplasia-I was diagnosed as well with hpv, depending on the results I will have to have a pre scheduled c-section. I dont know much about hpv or severe dysplasia as far as I know he hasnt said anything about warts and I dont have any signs of them. Do you have warts with hpv? And will this efect my child? Is it contageous? Will it go away? Will this efect me in having other children? Answers please...........

Hi, I have mild dysplasia. no it is not contagious to the baby unless you have warts. but these are all questions your doctor can answer. there are over 100 types of HPV depending on which one you have your questions will be answered differently as they all have their own risks, and such. So really the only one who can answer any of your questions is your doctor. the biggest concern with dusplasia is the risk of turning into cancer. Take care of yourself and follow your doctors directions to the T because you need to make sure your baby is safe while you are pregnant and that you yourself are taken care of so that you can be there several years down the road to take care of him/her. as for effecting your later pregnancies it depends on if you stay on track with your treatment and get paps EVERY year to ake sure you don't end up with cancer. If you do not have surgery or end up with cancer than HPV and dysplasia alone will not usually cause infertility or complications. Usually it's the srgery that is used to treat and remove the lesions (abnormal tissue). So talk to your doctor after you have the baby about your options and tell him/her your concerns about everything an they will help find the right options for you. Good luck and God bless you and your baby. I think everythihng will be fine just take care of yourelf :-)
