If I had not worked like a slave and saved for retirement I would agree with being euthanised but I would like to see the grandkids a bit more first.

be care full if you think they can just have the epididymis removed because the three urologist I have seen said that normally they will take it all if they do not see something right away because the blood vessel to the testicle runs right through the epi and it is very hard to separate. I thought I was just going to have the epididymis removed but when I woke up I was informed it was all removed and not thy did not put a prostetic in place of the missing one.

BlueTaylor, call your doctor immediately and let him know about your symptoms. If the doc doesn't get back to you right away, go the urgent care and see another doctor to explain what is happening. This is a typical reaction to antiobiotics - watery diarrhea.
What the cipro antibiotic is doing is killing everything in your gut, including your normal intestinal flora, which aids in digestion. Now your body can't digest things very well and just liquifies everything with the stomach acid. Food is going right through you. Make sure you keep very, very hydrated and drink sports drinks or a drinks with the electrolytes you are losing (potassium). Eat bananas and maybe rice porridge with chicken broth. You also need to avoid dairies, caffeine (a diuretic that can irritate your stomach), and carbonated drinks, as they will irritate your gut and make matters much, much worse.
After this latest visit to the urologist at UC Irvine Medical, I will definitely NOT have epididymectomy (removal of the epididymes). The doctor conducted a physical exam and could not tell what I have. He gave me his own initial diagnosis of CPPS (Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndromr or... prostatitis), which is also bollocks. Now I'm beginning to see that I may have something completely different and, perhaps, two different things - my left testicle is affected by one thing and my right testicle is affected by another. I may just have to keep my apppointment with the UCLA Clark Urology centre.
I woke up this morning to see my right testicle hanging SIDEWAYS at the very top of the scrotum. Oddly enough, there was no pain, but just some minor discomfort. I took a photograph just to see that I am not hallucinating this sh!t hahah.

Holy sh!t, dude! Sex, cycling, caffeine, dairies?! You should be doing bed rest, taking it easy, doing warm baths, using cold compresses for the swelling and pain... and ask your doctor if you should be partaking in these activities and consuming those foods and drink. Of course, you must get your cipro questions squared away with a doctor immediately.
Make sure you read the warning on the cipro package. It's long and extensive, but it tells you what you should and should not eat while taking this medication. Dairies is a big one, as are multivitamins. The antibiotics will not be as effective because they will bind to the calcium in them (I think).
Have you also considered that the root cause of your epididymal or intrascrotal pain may come from cycling? I've read about this before happening to cyclists, motorcyclists, and horseback riders - too many hits to the bottom of the scrotum while being scrunched up by the seats. I'm just sayin'.

I am sorry if sounded callous with that spurious remark. Being anonymous sort of takes away any form of tact.
That you've had children and now grandchildren is the greatest reward life can give. At that point, the doctors could take me apart piece by piece, just as long as I could have more time with my loved ones.

no problem JCA, I have a tough skin and do not upset very easy. I had the nerve block and will give it a few weeks but right now it does not look to good. Granddaughters graduation is in June and I will get this done after the graduation if the vicoden and Oxy hold out.

It was just an injection into the spermatic cord. It took about 1 minute and that was it. It will help about 1/3 of the people that get it is what he told me and unfortunatly I was not one of the 1/3 it helped. I am going to try in again in about a week and have it inserted into a different place. The forth urologist I saw at Sharp Hospital in San Diego said if the pain is chronic it is probably best to have the "painful ornament" removed since I am past wanting to have children. When the left side was removed the recovery took about 3 to 4 weeks. If I knew then what I know now I would have had both side done and been over with this, "hopefully"
My granddaughter is diabetic and gives herself a shot at every meal and I have administered them to her also so a testosterone shot about every three weeks should be no big deal.

I imagine it's a very painful minute. I wince at the thought of having a needle near my scrotum, but it looks as if that's what my current urologist is suggesting I do.
I, too, have lined up a fourth urologist to see what he has to say about my condition. One the one hand, I am not in a great deal of pain, which is great, but, on the other, the discomfort and the way my testicles are positioned within the scrotum prevent me from doing any kind of physical activity. I check and try to readjust my balls every 30 minutes.
There is slight pain and a lot of discomfort coming from both sides of the scrotum (not from the testicles themselves, but around the testicles). It's a sensation that is driving me crazy. The doctors, so far, seem pleased to tell me this is nothing "acute" or "serious." On paper, I am in perfectly good health - no STDs, no cancer, no infections, no inflammations, everything is in perfect order.
It's the physical exam that stumps everyone. All of them have said to me they have never seen anything like it in all their years of practice and they start throwing different kinds of diagnoses: Epididymitis, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, prostatitis, hydroceles. Whereas I keep telling them, I believe I have two different things going on, one of them from a possible injury which probably tore something in the spermatic cord and the other from a strong cremasteric reflex that left the spermatic cord stuck. If the guys from UC Irvine and UCLA urology centres don't pan out, then I'll try UC San Diego and Cedars-Sinai urologists, as a kind of last resort. This would make four of the top 50 urology clinics in the US. I'd probably try a few more urologists and/or general surgeons before I give up.
In a way, I may end up getting both testicles removed if this continues, although I don't know if that is welcoming a whole new set of health problems. Again, I'm looking at this problem from the perspective of a guy who just turned 34...

The needle was not to bad but it did not have the desired results which is a real downer. It has put me in a real state of depression. The ultrasound they did on me shows epididymitis and there is a cyst in the head of the epididymis, of course they say that it is not suppose to cause pain and I retort back "your wrong", never tell a doctor he or she is wrong. I have talked to two urologist about what happens when you loose both testicles and other than the testosterone thing they have both said not too much (at my age) but since they have not been able to figure this out I have little faith. One told me testosterone therapy is quite easy and can be accomplished in different ways, pads, wipes, shots. Anyway I see my first surgeon on Thursday and I am going to tell him I want this thing removed. This is no life, I can not ride my motorcycle, walk up a hill, or lift anything over 10 lbs and am constantly on either vicoden or oxy ever 5 hours.
I would think if one of the urology clinics had come up with a good way to treat this other than guessing once the test are clear it would be advertising their success in order to get more business. On paper I do have findings so it guess it is time to figure that they are not going to heal itself and there is not a medicine that is going to work.
Good luck with your search JCA
