So about a week ago after sitting for a long period of time I got up and my entire scrotum (and thighs) was numb/asleep for 5-10 minutes. Later that night I noticed the my right testicle felt really numb, heavy, tingling, and somewhat hurt. It continued to get worse for the next few days, so I went to a doctor and after poking around in the area told me I had epididymitis. I was prescribed a week's worth of antibiotics and I'm on the third day now.
There is a mass in my scrotum about twice the size of my testicle that feels like a curved cord, and when I asked the doctor, he said that was my swollen epididymis. For the first few days the pain was pretty unbearable, and today I lost all feeling in that testicle for about 1-2 minutes. Contrary to what the doctor told me, I masturbated this morning and when I finished, most of the pain/pressure subsided within about 30 seconds, though the swelling remained. Right now it still feels really heavy and strange, but it doesn't hurt.
Is this numbness something I should be worried about or is it just part of the epididymitis?

Did the urinalysis show a positive result for bacterial infection? Did the ultrasound scan show a swollen epididymal head? If both are "yes," then finish the antiobiotic for the week and see if the pain subsides. You could also take ibuprofen or a NSAID to help with the pain and swelling. The swelling may take more time to go away

Hmm. Was the urinalysis also negative for bacteria? At this point, I'd question the doctor's diagnosis or request to see a urologist for a second opinion.
