Well a few days ago I was handling my "business" and had to urinate very badly before I began . I skipped it and went straight to business. I left the er today with one testicle 4times the size of the other and in severe pain .
Here's the kicker...
The Dr kept saying how STDs is the number one cause while my wife was in the room . what an awesome day. But I'm glad you shared that . it makes perfect sense .

My history of dealing with epididymitis is similar to that of others. 3 different doctors (2 primary care physicians & 1 urologist) decided that it was caused by a sexually transmitted infection, and they all prescribed antibiotics. One other urologist, who was more interested in selling me on a prostate related procedure than in dealing with epididymitis, finally decided that I wasn’t completely emptying my bladder. I have felt certain that my epididymitis was caused by a non-sexually related strain and I’m sure of when, where & how it happened. I just was never able to convince the Mds, none of whom seemed to be interested in the problem.
While Web browsing recently, I came upon a report dealing with using massage as a therapy in dealing with epididymitis. It was a small study, involving only 10 men; I think that the test was conducted in Sweden. With little to lose, I obtained a hand held battery operated massager and began the prescribed treatment of 20 minutes a day for 4 weeks. It has now been 6 weeks and I am pretty much pain free, all of the time. Occasionally, I do get a sort of a twinge that reminds me that the base problem still lurks – which is why I have continued the treatment beyond the prescribed 4 weeks.
I could have done a better job in researching and selecting the best massager for the job. The one that I obtained, though hand-held, is somewhat heavy & bulky to use, especially in the groin area. And the vibrations are stronger than I need. No – there is no sexual arousal resulting from the treatment. But I wonder if one of those sexual vibrators would be easier to use than the device that I have. My advice would be to find a device that allows for adjusting the massage intensity.
If anyone tries this massage therapy, please let the rest of us know if/how it works for you.

I'm glad you found a way to relieve the pain. My friend, Ellison, also had chronic epididymitis for three years, with local discomfort, swelling or scrotal pain. Sometimes pain can radiate to the lower abdomen and the medial thigh of the same side. The symptoms were relieved after antibiotic treatment, but a couple of months later the symptoms started to come back.

I stopped having sexual intercourse(I've always used condom and unprotected sex)since 1.5 years and all STD test, sperm dna test, blood, urine, urethra swab are always negative.
Went to do an ecograph and the doctor excluded that it was a tumor.
My MD that is specializing in urology excludes that it's an std cause since 4 round of test in a year came out negative.
The only thing I didn't get checked was Eschierichia Coli and HPV but I've been visited by several urologist and they exclude HPV.
My urologist said it was getting smaller and about the surgery to remove the cist said it was not worth since we didn't find the root. I could get surgery, but it would have come back.
