I had aching and burning in my testicles mostly on the right side for about 10 days. I don't have a doctor so I just went to the first hospital I found. They did not have a urologist so they sent me to the dermatologist. He diagnosed epididymitis and prescribed doxycyline 100mg twice a day for 10 days. This did absolutely nothing. Pain got worse and felt like fire in my nuts. After those 10 days I searched for an actual urologist. Went to see him and he found no signs of infection via urine or ultra sound. He gave me Voltfast 50mg twice a day for 3 days and regular off the shelf Panadol Extra 3 times a day for 5 days. Huge relief after only 1 day. Still mild discomfort but I can tell after only 1 day it has gotten a lot better.

Are you still having issues with one testicle hanging higher than the other? Because I have the same problem but the doctor is acting as if I don’t know what I’m talking about and freaking myself out.

I think you are very much on to something with that theory. My wife suffers from conditions that make our bedroom time very infrequent. I masturbate to compensate.
Well a few days ago I was handling my "business" and had to urinate very badly before I began . I skipped it and went straight to business. I left the er today with one testicle 4times the size of the other and in severe pain .
Here's the kicker...
The Dr kept saying how STDs is the number one cause while my wife was in the room . what an awesome day. But I'm glad you shared that . it makes perfect sense .

Hey guys. Here is my experience. I seem to be suffering from this blasted condition. My original doc told me that I either sprained a muscle or had a hernia. After many trips to the specialist it is determined I have no hernia. I self tested myself for a UTI a few weeks later and It came out positive. Trip to the urgent care a one week prescription of Cipro was given to me. I then had an appointment with a Urologist who told me the pain was all part of the UTI and would go away after the Cipro course was completed. Two months later (today) the discomfort is minimal but still present. So I made another appointment and the Urologist prescribed me two weeks of Doxy. The problem is that my stomach has been acting up loose stool/diarrhea randomly in the last two months. I'm afraid to go on more antibiotics when I have ongoing stomach issues and there is no infection present. Culture results should come in soon. The doctor was very short and didn't really let me ask too many questions. Should I just go ahead and take the Doxy even though there is no infection? Thanks. Any input would be great. I really appreciate it.

Hi. I was diagnosed 7 months ago with epididymitis. For the last two months I’ve had swollen glands in my neck. Has anybody else had swollen glands ?

My history of dealing with epididymitis is similar to that of others. 3 different doctors (2 primary care physicians & 1 urologist) decided that it was caused by a sexually transmitted infection, and they all prescribed antibiotics. One other urologist, who was more interested in selling me on a prostate related procedure than in dealing with epididymitis, finally decided that I wasn’t completely emptying my bladder. I have felt certain that my epididymitis was caused by a non-sexually related strain and I’m sure of when, where & how it happened. I just was never able to convince the Mds, none of whom seemed to be interested in the problem.

While Web browsing recently, I came upon a report dealing with using massage as a therapy in dealing with epididymitis. It was a small study, involving only 10 men; I think that the test was conducted in Sweden. With little to lose, I obtained a hand held battery operated massager and began the prescribed treatment of 20 minutes a day for 4 weeks. It has now been 6 weeks and I am pretty much pain free, all of the time. Occasionally, I do get a sort of a twinge that reminds me that the base problem still lurks – which is why I have continued the treatment beyond the prescribed 4 weeks.

I could have done a better job in researching and selecting the best massager for the job. The one that I obtained, though hand-held, is somewhat heavy & bulky to use, especially in the groin area. And the vibrations are stronger than I need. No – there is no sexual arousal resulting from the treatment. But I wonder if one of those sexual vibrators would be easier to use than the device that I have. My advice would be to find a device that allows for adjusting the massage intensity.

If anyone tries this massage therapy, please let the rest of us know if/how it works for you.

I was diagnosed with epididymitis 15 years ago. It went from my right testicle to my left. Took antibiotics for 6 months. It flares up every now and then. I do get throbbing glands in my neck. I had that today and really, pretty often

I wore a jock strap ( still do when it flares up) for support. I iced my testicles on the onset. My doctor said I need to support them so they heal. That was 15 years ago. It still flares up...I am researching because of it. I don't want to be on antibiotics for months again.

I'm glad you found a way to relieve the pain. My friend, Ellison, also had chronic epididymitis for three years, with local discomfort, swelling or scrotal pain. Sometimes pain can radiate to the lower abdomen and the medial thigh of the same side. The symptoms were relieved after antibiotic treatment, but a couple of months later the symptoms started to come back.

It's a year that I was fighting with these syntoms and one month ago a Doctor diagnosed epididimitis.
I stopped having sexual intercourse(I've always used condom and unprotected sex)since 1.5 years and all STD test, sperm dna test, blood, urine, urethra swab are always negative.
Went to do an ecograph and the doctor excluded that it was a tumor.
My MD that is specializing in urology excludes that it's an std cause since 4 round of test in a year came out negative.
The only thing I didn't get checked was Eschierichia Coli and HPV but I've been visited by several urologist and they exclude HPV.
My urologist said it was getting smaller and about the surgery to remove the cist said it was not worth since we didn't find the root. I could get surgery, but it would have come back.
