It happens, you're in your doctors office and need to have your "area" checked and then you start getting an erection..... it's probably one of the biggest fears of going to the doctor especially for younger guys..... first off be assured that getting erections are very normal and do happen. It does not matter if the doctor is male or female or if you are Gay/straight or oter.  It does not mean anything such as being attracted to the provider or that you are gay/straight etc.....

My question is, as a patient how would you feel more comfortable in this situation. If you get an erection during an exam would you prefer the doctor just finish up his/her exam and act like nothing happened. Or would you prefer that the doctor reassured you that it was ok and a normal thing to happen and that it happens pretty often?

Any input preferable from guys preferred. Also please put your age to help analyze results.

Thanks in advance I really appreciate it!!

when it happens it would be reassuring for the doctor to just say 'don't worry about that, it happens all the time' then ignore it for the rest of the exam. male 39yrs old.

I’d prefer for the Dr. to acknowledge it and reassure it’s ok and to not be embarrassed.
