Yes I do have erythema nodulism . I thought I developed it in my pregnancy six yrs back but Drs said it was a simple odema related to pregnancy. Just after delivery it vanish out . Only few black scars on my legs above ankle. After two yrs the scars were also not there. But from June 2015 it again started and from tht time I m still suffering. Doctor first mistreated it with thrombosis. So I was taking some blood thinners and antibiotic. Tht didn't helps much and it becomes worse after January 2016 when I again started my job. Recently it was diagnosed as erythema nodulism bt the cause is still unknown. I m taking antibiotics , pain killers and antiallergics as the dr suspect Ed this with sarcoidoses. Although the blood test and chest x-ray are negative. Dr told me to keep a check for any thing causing allergies. Can any one one help me out. I have a six yr old daughter and want to plan a second child. Can I go for the family in this situation?

Very likely, I have EN flareups when I'm pregnant and on birth control.

When I was 48 I was diagnosed with EN after returned from a French holiday (my Husband had been hospitalized and I wonder did I pick something up there?) My legs and ankles ballooned to 3x normal sizeThe pain was terrible and I had to lay with pillows under my legs to get any relief. The 'rash' was mainly on my ankles and some on my arms. I was x rayed for Tb and had fetal samples and blood tests but nothing was found The condition lasted about a month but eventually went away with no side effects, this was 6 years ago.

Thank you for the info. I will go to the link you provided. I am so frustrated with this. I was diagnosed with EN more than 25 years ago. Recently I have had a flare up and they are worse than ever. They have included horrible blood blisters twice now. This time the blood is so thick, I have blood clots in the blister. My 4 yrs old granddaughter accidentally bumped it too many times and it split open.
Again, thank you. I how I can find someone who has had a similar problem.

I had my first bump of EN 6 months ago. They initially thought it was just tendinitis because it was small and on my foot. So, I kept walking and it became so large, very dark purple and excruciatingly painful that I couldn't walk on it for 2 months. They tested me for everything under the sun, but I was clear of all infections. When another bump showed up on my other leg they finally diagnosed it as EN, about 3 months later. They put me on steroids, it helped a bit but I had an allergic reaction to the steroids. Then the dermatologist asked me to take 400mg ibuprofen @3times/day but I had another allergic reaction where my tongue turned white with bumps that I couldn't eat or talk for two days. Once I stopped the allergic reaction cleared completely. I told my derm doc so then she prescribed indomethacin (another NSAID but stronger) and a had another bad allergic reaction. I was against taking this and all of the other medications because of how harmful they are to the body. I think I got the allergic reactions because I usually never take anything for pain etc. I was getting so sick of the meds that I decided to do research on naturopathic alternatives (much more my style). I found two different people posting on separate forums claiming how the herb Cleavers had helped them tremendously. So, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the organic tea at first. All I can say is wow! Within the first two days I already started noticing a difference. (Also note: I began wearing compression socks at this point which also helps.). I also wanted to try the tincture version because it was much easier to administer when traveling (about 20-30 drops in 2-4ml of water). I've been taking it for about 6 weeks now and it has basically cleared everything up. Unfortunately, I think I might be pregnant and one bump has showed up on my right shin. But with the Cleavers I feel comfortable in knowing that they aren't any harmful side effects so I'm going to keep taking it. I'm not a doctor and I'm only sharing what has worked for me because it has worked so well!! If you are lucky enough to know a Chinese doctor or have a certified herbalist near you, speak with them. The Herb Pharm organic cleavers tincture works the best for me. The tea is also great and tastes pretty good too! I hope this helps you and anyone that comes across it. I was so grateful when I found those other postings!

I've had EN for 24 years and it has been, to be honest, quite horrible at times. I used to use prednisone but a few years ago my body developed unsteady blood sugar when I used it, so I can't use it any more. Last year I became really ill with breathing difficulties and recurrent infections. The breathing episodes happened after I had eaten large amounts of food containing wheat/gluten (took a while for me to understand..). Stopped eating gluten and they disappeared for a while. Then came back, though milder and didn't stay for the whole 5-6 weeks like they used to. Started testing for different food types by not eating groups of food for a while (I checked for foods on the FODMAP lists first) and then slowly introducing one and one. Now the EN are completely gone. I have to stay away from a lot of different food, but it is totally worth it. I now notice when I have eaten something as I get stomach aches and indigestion almost immedeately. Doctor thinks it's strong food intolerance, but they had never heard about anyone getting breathing difficulties as a result. I now think its because of congestive problems when I eat something I shouldn't have. Also I can't take a test for celiac disease as I would have to start eating gluten again and that is not recommendable as I get really ill. Blood samples show no allergies for food. Strangely some of my hay fever allergies disappeared after I changed my diet. Also I'm apparently no longer allergic to bunnies. And I hardly get infections any more. I hope you find the reason and they disappear..

I had a severe case of chronic erythema nodosum. Best treatment comes from a dermatologist. Potassium Iodide. It is an old school remedy but it works.
