Hi, folks. My friend has been diagnosed with esophagus cancer. I know that this isn’t something to joke with. I would like to know if some changes in food are necessary. Can you tell me something about required diets in this condition? I will really appreciate if you could tell me something.

Hi, there. Change in diet is necessary. Swallowing can be a quite problem for a patient with esophageal cancer, especially if he/she has had radiotherapy or surgery. The food must me very soft and easy to swallow. Experts recommend soups, ice cream, eggs, milkshakes, puddings, etc. They should eat on a straw instead of spoon. The food should also contain enough calories. It shouldn’t be spicy or contain anything that can irritate esophagus. Consult a nutritionist for more details. Good luck!
