I am in Switzerland and a bit worried about their measures for a Fracture in my Foot, I just wanted to check if you think it is all ok.
I have a stress Fracture on my left foot, they put a air boot on it, so it can be removed. They said I need clexane injections everyday in my stomach..is this normal? Also can i drink alcohol or smoke on the clexane injections? They said I might need the injections for 6 weeks, is this a long time to go on it?
Thanks so much, this will really put my mind at rest,
Kerrie

Hi there,
If I am not mistaking here Clexane injection contains the active ingredient enoxaparin, which used to stop blood clots forming within the blood vessels. I am not sure will it be smart to use alcohol with this because alcohol tinning your blood as well. I am not sure will the smoking cause any adverse reaction to your injury or to the blood tinning. They are giving you this medication in order to prevent possible blood cloths in your foot from the injury that you had. Did they tell you that you might have a slow blood flow in the foot? I hope that this helped you in any way.
Best wishes,
Marco
