I am trying to start eating healthier, and need to learn more about a healthy diet that would be benificial to someone who runs daily. At the moment I really know nothing about it. What is the ideal runner's diet? What type of foods, and about how much should a typical runner eat? I'm looking for suggestions for a diet that is as healthy as possible, without going way over the top, so any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!

I would recommend picking up a copy of Endurance Sports Nutrition by Suzanne Girard Eberle. This will give you a good bit of the information you are looking for.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have another question. This book appears to be more for long distance running, like marathons, but I need something that is more along the lines of shorter distances, mostly under 10k, would this book still be helpful for me? It looks like it probably would, but I thought I'd ask just to make sure.

This book would help you even if you weren't running, as long as your goal is to eat healthier.

Hi, I'm not very good with all foods and what's good for me. But I see that I'm out of energy quickly. Can anyone suggest a diet for a long distance runner?
