Just so everyone is clear hypertension is high blood pressure (hyper means high) as in hyperactive(over active). If you have hypotension you have LOW blood pressure. You all really should try to be accurate with information.

Hearing my heart beating in my head was from anemia. It's the first and easiest thing to get checked.
Fatigue is a good sign also. Pull down your bottom eyelid and see if the blood in your eye is very pale.
That's another sign of low iron. If you drink coffee it tends to deplete your iron. Take iron with vitamin C.
It helps your body to absorb it better.

I got sick about 3 years ago my blood pressure spiked all the time and i was on bp med so i was at the hospital almost every night and some times was admitted, in 30 days i lost 70 pounds, no appetite that happened 2 times since then but i have gained weight back.My heart skips beats all the time and when it hits hard in my head i fall sideways now all the joints in my body is hurting and its hard to explain but my brain feels lop sided. I have had every heart test they have, I have had a bone marrow biopsy,x-rays,ct scans, been to heart doctors, lung doctors, cancer doctors and no one can find a thing wrong with me. I hear my heart and feel it in my head, it sounds like an ultrasound of a baby's heartbeat inside the womb. I'm now starting to have sleep paralysis is where my mind is awake but my body is paralysed, i hear and sometimes can open my eyes but can't move and that is so scary. I'm 53 i smoke, quit for 20 yrs and picked it back up 5 yrs ago. I have bad panic attacks which i take xanax for. If anyone has these symptoms or maybe any answers i would appreciate them so much.Thank you and God bless. Oh i was also put on a drug to stop my palpitations and it doesn't work.

I also have this codition.  After reading all the posts I realize it it probably anemia for me.  I have been diagnosed with anemia in the past but have always "cured" it with iron no transfusions.  I used to have the wooshing in my right ear but now it is a heartbeat in my right ear.  Very strange that it is probably caused by the same thing!  I will take my iron and send an update if it works.  I eat very healthy and my blood pressure is always in a healthy range but have suffered with anemia throughout my entire life.  My mom was always anemic also, must be in my genes!

Hello,
it can be due to high amplitude pressure of the intracranial arteries.
I Usually run few tests on my patients who presents to be with either pounding or bobbing.

I figured out that the heartbeat I hear in my head subsides when I take my iron, so mine is alos caused by anemia.  I have always had a problem with low iron but this heartbeat in my head just started up in the past few years.  It is really annoying but thank goodness it isn't something serious (as long as I keep my iron up).

I'm sure that doctors aren't "useless". It's just that this is such a non-specific symptom which is likely not related to a physical diagnosis... doctors don't have x-ray vision and medicine does have it's limits, so it is particularly difficult when someone repeatedly presents with something so non-descipt.

So if doctors are "useless'", don't go back at all... ever... for anything... or understand when they don't have all the answers - because no-one does.

Have her get her iron count checked, a few of us here figured this out to be low iron. I hear an extremely loud heartbeat in my right ear when my iron is low. When I am good about taking my iron it goes away, that simple!

As an attending physician:

cshevlin: your low plasma iron, or so called iron deficiency anemia, can cause the heart to pump unsually higher than normal to meet basal body requirement of oxygen in tissues. to do so, an icreased in pressure is required, which explains the symptoms.

Regarding the 55 years old mother (sorry, dont know who posted this), i suggest the get few tests running. a single BP measure sometimes isnt enough to establish the diagnosis of essential hypertension (hypertension in elderly), so a holter BP is required to monitor the BP during 24 hours.
I'm sure her attending physician will figure it out.

I have Cold Agglutinin Disease, also hemolytic anemia.I have a CBC every 6 months and my blood stays the same. I am taking Iron and Folic 1 mg.

This only happened one time a couple of days ago. I went to bed and work up from hearing a loud pounding. I did not think it was in y head and i got up and looked out side and went back to bed, I was not dizzy, did not have a headache. The pounding was in my head loud, I went back to sleep after a wile and woke p a couple of more times. Next morning i had a hint of pounding not loud.I was fin all day and when I went to bed that night I went to sleep no pounding. I think it might have been caused by pain med. taking with some other prescriptions. Waiting for a call from the nurse. It has been a couple of days and it never occurred after that, stopped taking the pain med.
