Hi! I had similar symptoms, but I also had heart palps when I run or exercise. First that didn’t bother me a lot. After some time I had also chest pain. So, I saw a doctor. I had EKG and some other tests. Doctor told me that I have angina. My advice to you is to see a doctor. He will determine the cause of your heart palpations. Good lack!

I too have heart palps, saw a cardiologist, and checked out fine.
Triggers include excessive: stress, caffine, lack of oxygen (usually during stress), after fatty or large meals. There are more but, these are my triggers. Try to remember to breath deep and slow when they happen. They use to make me have panic attacks because I was scared. But they are pretty harmless I believe.
If you have them during exercise, it could be a reason for concern. I'm only 33 but you could have a family history, like me, or other contributers.

Make sure you see your doctor to check your blood glucose levels. Many times after a large meal your blood sugar goes high. If the body is not metabolizing the glucose effectively, it can cause heart palps. This is common in people with diabetes. But even if you have a predisposition to diabetes and not have it full fledged, it can still cause your symptoms. Also, make a concious effort to see if you can pattern any other symptoms with the large meal intake. One symptom alone may not pinpoint a cause but others with it will give a better understanding of what's going on in your body.
