My brother (67) had a splenectomy at 7 years of age in the UK. Of three children two of his have HS and have also had their spleens removed. As far as we have been aware (but no testing has taken place) my two children and myself are not sufferers of HS. My daughter has never been in "robust" health and has skin and allergy problems. She also has had a series of five miscarriages and heartbreakingly a stillborn boy after her waters broke at 20 weeks, she held on for a month before the baby was born stillborn. Could she have undiagnosed HS? Could (I know we're probably clutching at straws) this be part of her difficulties carrying full-term?. I'm ashamed to say the family have JUST made the connection, assuming her blood tests would indicate this.
