I noticed that term succussion is often used in some explanations about homeopathic remedies. What exactly does it mean? I believe in potential of homeopathy as alternative medicine and I would like to know what is its secret power? Could it be that few additional shakes of homeopathic remedy add to its power?

Succussion is a part of homeopathic remedy preparation. I heard that during preparation of homeopathic medicine after it has been diluted it is also being succussed. Some authors believe that it adds to remedy’s potential. Also it is advised to patients to shake the bottle with remedy before they use it, for the same reason.

Succussion is done by few hard strikes against an elastic object. Homeopaths believe that it awakens vital energy of the liquid and that in that form remedy can affect the organism with its spiritual powers. I don’t know much on this subject but I find it very fascinating. Maybe if the remedy isn’t succussed well enough it won’t work. Maybe that’s why homeopathic remedies sometimes work and sometimes don’t.
