Hi, my husband was a professional boxer. He started to have serious problems with his eye sight. This disabled him to continue with fighting. He retired recently because he was diagnosed with Horner's syndrome. My husband has not taken any steps in treating this condition. I am worried that Horner's syndrome will eventually lead to blindness. What can I do to help him?

Hi, it is not strange that your husband suffers from Horner's syndrome because the condition is caused by injuries to the sympathetic nerves in the face. Since he was a professional boxer I am sure that he got punched in the face more than once and that this is what caused the Horner's syndrome. Because one of the symptoms is a smaller pupil the eye that is affected may have limited sight. Your husband will not go blind because his other eye is perfectly healthy. The treatment would consist of healing the damaged nerve. You should have a serious conversation with your husband and face him with the facts about Horner's syndrome. He should be aware that his condition will only get worse if he doesn't start treatment.
