I'm three weeks out from a lapriscopically assited vaginal hysterectomy. I think I'm recovering quite well and trying to push myself to get back to my normal way of life. Here's my problem....Over the last week I've started to have the worst back pain I have ever experienced. I thought maybe I needed to be up and moving more so I have tried that but it's no different. Bending over, sitting, laying down, it doesn't matter what I'm doing the lower back pain is there and it is driving me crazy!

Am I being a big baby about this or is this just something that goes along with having a hysterectomy? Should I be concerned? Is this something I need to tell my Dr about?

Thanks for any input you can give me! I'm waiting for the day when I'll be glad I had this surgery!

H hon: Hopefully you were told to NOT exert yourself for 6 weeks!!!! You should REALLY take it easy, they told me to not even drive or pick up anything for 6 weeks. While my insides healed. Your back pain is normal, when they put you under they put your legs into "unnatural" positions. And it puts a real strain on your hips and lower back! I had more of a hard time recovering from that than I did from the actual hysterectomy!! So just take it easy, and try to lay down with your legs resting on a couple of pillows - that REALLY helps out your back without stretching it! You might feel that it was useless for the 1st couple of months, LIKE I DID!!! But after you will think "THANK GOD!!!!" ;-) :-) I had mine done when I was 36 and it was because of SEVERE pains! So sometimes I get what is called "phantom pain" its when the pain is there but the organ or appendage that is supposed to be giving the pain isn't!!!! It's just like when an amputee has an itchy foot!!! It is amazying what the brain controls, so you might get that too. Just a heads up! Good luck and health. Hope this helped you!
