Hi, I had a hysterectomy last month, and since then I’ve been having problems with urinating. I don’t know is this permanent? Will I have urine leakage forever?

Hello, I also had urine leakage after hysterectomy. A doctor explained me that urine incontinence is common after changing the design and support of the pelvis. Vagina and urinary tract are made of the similar tissue, and they both have estrogen dependence. Hysterectomy misbalance estrogen and everything is changed. Estrogen improves smooth muscle tone, which can fewer urinary tract infections. I remember how embarrassing urine leakage can be, especially when sneezing. There is a new method of hysterectomy called a laparoscopic hysterectomy, which involves far less damage. Urinary leakage is much more possible in women over 40, and not only leakage, but any other urine incontinence. This doesn’t have to be permanent. In my case, ERT was really helpful.

I am almost six out from having a vaginal hysterectomy. I have noticed having urine leakage. I can even be laying in bed at night and feel it leaking out. Will I always have to wear a pad? Has anyone else felt this?

I thought I might be the only one feeling this... I have loads of leakage. lately more than before. 1 month post Op I was back in the ER for a hole that had eaten it's way through my stomach. While I was in the hospital they ran dozens of tests and ran tons of antibiotic into me. THAT ACTUALLY helped stop the leaking... for a while. Now I have no insurance and the endometriosis (which is why I got the surgery) is back in full force because my WONDERFUL doctor thought it would be best to save THE WRONG ovary. The leaking is absolutely ridiculous. I am looking for answers too, if anybody has any!
Thanks!!!

It is now 1 and a 1/2 years after my hysterectomy.  Today I had to leave work due to leakage.  It was more like peeing my pants.  I have had all sorts of UTI's since the surgery.  Infact going to Doc again today to get some meds.  My bladder was actually damaged during surgery and I had to have it stiched back up.  I had to wear a cath for more than 16 days.  Has any one experienced this problem this far after surgery?

I'm only one month post op from a laparoscopic hysterectomy. I went for my first run in a long time and had the same amount of leakage as before my operation. I've been reading all of these posts and am becoming worried. No one has said of their hysterectomies were traditional or laproscopic. I was hoping that after my system healed and balanced itself out this would resolve. Anyone with the LASH have any words of wisdom?

I am 9 weeks from a partial hyster. About 4 weeks after the surgery I started having a discharge that even though it was not yellow or brown, it had a different odor, not fishy but different. I went to the doctor and got tested for an UTI and it came back negative.  Two weeks ago, the discharge increased to a ridiculous amount.  It was so much, I was wearing the pads I was provided with when I got out of the hospital. Called my Dr and I have an appt in 2 days. I am scared, I have been doing some readings and it sounds like my bladder dropped and I may need another surgery to get rid of the incontinence.  I will post with my Dr's answers to questions.

My girlfriend just had a full hysterectomy about 1 month ago.  One of her symptoms was frequent urination.  Now after the operation she is still having this problem and was told by her doctor to see a urologist.  She asked me to find out any information of why this could still be happening.  Thank you in advance for your comments.

I am 6 months out and still having leakage. I refuse to go to the incontinence clinic ro make sure the girl is being exercise correctly. I hope this is not permanent as I am only 36. I thought I wouldnt have to pack an extra change of clothes until I hit my 70's. Apparently I was wrong!!
