I have steamed up the car windows waiting for my husband to run out in the rain into walomart and pick up my Estrovan. It only works for about 4 hours. Now I am onto Women's one a day menapause and it works about that well too but you can only take one of these not both and only one dose a day or night. I take mine at night but I still wake up sweating and flashing. I too hae went out my backdoor and raised my nightgown last night when it was 38 degrees here! Good thing we live on 3 acres on a dead end dirt road! I was am still am a little depressed after reading other women's stories on here that this will never stop(complete hysterectomy) but I now know that I am far from being all alone. I just hate it when I run into women in Walmart pharmacy who say that they don't have any symptoms! They are the 10 percent who don't. I am the 90 % who does! It also matters if you still have your overies. I started having them just 7 days after surgery back in October 2011 and they ae driving me to the point of not being able to function some days and I just stay in bed with the Ac on and the fan on high., I see my hubby off to his part-time job, then go to the bathroom, eat a ceral bar and go back to bed. Sometimes I pull the shades and watch all 4 Twilight movies and wish I was in Forks and not here! Callgon take me away!

Hi Rosy,

Try taking 800 to 1000 mg of vitamin E. I am on Estrogen but still had the hot flashes. 400 mg of Vitamin E in the morning before work, and 800 mg of Vitamin before bed. I sleep through the night without having to change my sheets in the middle of the night.

I hope this helps someone.

Oh my goodness, I had a hystorectomy 18 years ago where my left ovary was removed and my uterus due to fibroids and endometriosis, I'm now 57 years old. One week ago I had my right ovary removed due to 2 tumors. The hot flashes are ten times worse than before. I don't understand this. I am soaking wet 24/7. My hot flashes started 13 years ago and they are worse than ever now. Unfortunately I've tried every conceivable conventional medication and natural medication on the market and have spent thousands of dollars trying to get relief.

HI .I HAD A HYSTERECTOMY IN 1989 . THEN OVARIES IN 2000. WAS ON HRT FOR 11 YEARS. I AM NOW ALMOST 57. JUST SO YOU KNOW . MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS I GET SHORT BURSTS OF HEAT NO SWEATING ,NEVER NIGHT SWEATS THANK GOD . ITIS LIKE I AM ETERNALLY WARM EMITTING HEAT. . THE FLASHES HAPPEN NOW AND THEN BUT ARE BEARABLE. I AM SORRY YOU ARE MISERABLE. . I THINK IT IS A HORMONE IMBALANCE ,. IT HAS TO BE . WHEN OUR BODY IS NOT PRODUCING. AND AFFECTS OUR MENTAL WELL BEING .LOOK IN TO THAT . YOU DONT NEED TO BE LIKE THIS . CONTACT ME IF YOU WISH AGAIN . HAPPY EASTER.

I am 6 weeks postop. A complete hysterectomy, also taking the overies. I have been having hot flashes for about a week now.

I was hoping to find out how long they might last.... by the looks of these post it may be a while.:| Not sure if I should try some type of remedy or not??? They are getting more frequent... serveral during a day. If stress makes it worse, that could be why so many.

Good Luck to all!!!

I had a hysterectomy with removal of ovaries almost 2 years ago. I also had a mastectomy the same month. I can't take estrogen due to the BC. I had horribly painful hot flashes that started out feeling like an electric shock plus pit in my stomach feeling. I was having them every 30 minutes! My breast surgeon at Mayo had me get a progesterone shot...Depoprovera. Hot flashes ended and the shot lasted 11 months. I had another last May. Hot flashes are back one year later and I'm going to ask for another shot.

i too have had hot flashes for 12 years . it's to the part where I can't stand it. I feel like I'm gonna break down and explode from frustration. None of the herbs work, and the projesterion stopped working after 2 years and slamed me into menapos (sorry can't hardley spell ) My Doc. has had me try Propanadol, it does help.

I had a hys 4 years ago and have one ovary left. Horrible hot flashes, terrible dreams, swinging mood shifts.  I am so so glad to hear other women having the same symptoms - really thought I was going crazy.
I am not on any hormone replacements. I have taken Paxil for depression for the last 10 years.
Do any of you have chest wall pain? I have had this since I was a child but it is suddenly worse, however medically I am fine.
I am now 46 years old and running a company, taking care of my senile husband, plus 18 parrots.
I see now where the pain is coming from....
Would love any feedback.

I had my hysteretomy appox. 4 yrs. ago and took HR for that length of time.

I recently went off of the HR as recommended.  NOW, my hot flashers have returned!

Unreal!  That was one of the reasons I did the HR therapy, in hopes that I was done with

all of this.  I'm 55 and very disappointed!!  How & why do I still have hot flashes??!!

I had my hysterectomy in 1998 when I was 40years of age.I realized The hotflashes from 2003 though I used to sweat earlier too.The hot flash is so bad that I get almost drenched in sweat.I hate to dress for a function b'cos immediately after that I sweat so profusely ,it puts my mood off.It is 11years since I had hot flashes,it has not stopped though the intensity has slightly reduced.I have been giving auto suggestion to myself"this is part of your life and you need to bear with it".It has worked and I don't get irritated so much now when I have the hotflashes .Anyway I am not the only one who is going through this.

You guys are great!  Full of information and remedies.  I four months in from a total hysterectomy, 45, fibroids with heavy bleeding. So, so happy thats over. BUT, hot flashes are here, hopefully not to stay.  They aren't really, really bad yet, but they are very annoying.  Im gonna try the black cohosh and the vitamin E.  Thanks so much for the advice.  Love ya all:-) .

I just has a hysterectomy 4 weeks ago they took everything. I started having hot flashes and night sweats my second night. I have them all day long and all night long. I am currently tring a natrual product Estravin I have been on it for two weeks and so far have not seen any difference. but I keep hoping. I also feel sad and cry sometimes. I think I was better off bleeding to death then having it all removed. better luck to you.
