The people of India need educating, especially the boys if they really are ignorant enough to believe that. People assisting that kind of ignorance by posting fallacious replies and playing along with the ignorance rather than being very straight and truthful are making matters worse for girls, not better.

kg100. Don't show you own ignorance so arrogantly.
"The people of India need educating, especially the boys if they really are ignorant and stupid enough to believe that". They are not displaying ignorance or stupidity as you falsely aver, but referring to the cultural morals of their society.
"People assisting that kind of ignorance by posting fallacious replies and playing along with the ignorance" If you find providing culturally sensitive and informed help to individuals who are wanting help to be "fallacious", then keep your bias to yourself.
In future, show some maturity in your responses if possible.

I have no shame whatsoever in placing the basic human rights of girls over cultural sensitivities. If that makes me "immature" then that's fine by me. I would happily upset hundreds of people if it stops one girl thinking she is the property of her boyfriend.
Culture is no excuse for wrongdoing, and those who are happy to sit back and patronise people about culture while boys make demands on girls based on ignorance are worse than those lacking the education to begin with.

You are not "placing the basic human rights of girls over cultural sensitivities". To encourage a girl to disregard the cultural and moral values of her religion risks placing her in jeopardy. You may not agree with her culture or her religion, but here is not the place to argue the point.
When you say "Culture is no excuse for wrongdoing", what standard do you use to measure wrongdoing?
I would not "happily upset hundreds of people if it stops one girl thinking she is the property of her boyfriend" if by so doing it results in the death of that one girl.
Suggesting "boys make demands on girls based on ignorance" when they are adhering to their moral standards is displaying a religious bias which is against the rules of this site.

You're intentionally throwing religion in to it so you may accuse me of "religious bias" which is one of the most pathetic leaps you can make. It's not about religion, it's about culture and ignorance where religion is used as a shield to prevent anyone questioning how basic medical facts and human rights can be overridden by lies and myths. I don't care what religion a person is, I do care about a girl who is treated like a possession by a boy based on ignorance.
The moral standards are the problem and they need to be changed one person at a time by killing one myth at a time.

In some cultures they still make women walk behind the men becausebthey don't consider them to be equal. Do we pussyfoot around that too? Yes, it is a sign but it is not proof. Dispel the myth and you can make a change.
